Connect two articles on Wikipedia, but do it the long way. I've always been a fan of the theory of six degree of separation, but it's an overused concept when exploring the Wiki-graph. Instead of showing the shortest path, which in my opinion is "boring" and ends up connecting super-important central articles, I came up with my own method: WikiBinge selects the smaller, less represented articles on Wikipedia. In a WikiBinge path, the underdogs are the kings! How does it work? It's pretty straightforward! Compute PageRank on the Wiki-graph and assign as weight of each edge the PageRank value…

Hi HN, WikTok is a UI for Wikipedia that lets you quickly swipe (or use your arrow keys) to navigate between random and recommended articles (based on the previous articles you interacted most with). It's just a fun project I hacked together this weekend, so may be a little rough around the edges, but I'd love to get your thoughts. Let me know if you have any suggestions (or find any interesting articles!) Cheers,

I was inspired by Andy Matuschak's Evergreen Notes viewer and created this small web app to browse Wikipedia in the same way. Clicking on a link opens the content in a new pane to the right. And you can resize panes. It's really nice for following rabbit holes or checking out lists from articles. Let me know what you think! Code here: https://github.com/steezeburger/wikipedia-browser

I'm building a journal app in Kotlin Multiplatform and for this purpose I have created a zoomable timeline interface. This is a side-project where I reuse the timeline interface to display 4 million events imported from Wikipedia / Wikidata, scored using PageRank. There is more information on the about page. If you're interested in the stack: I use Kotlin Multiplatform extensively, with Compose Multiplatform for the UI, communicates with the backend using Kotlinx-RPC and behind the hood a simple Postgres database on a Hetzner machine.

This extension loads the mobile version of links when hovered over, is usually faster than opening a new tab, and is recursive (10 frame deep limit).
