24 alternatives to Just – Zero Config TypeScript Development Tool
I built a cli tool that gets you started with TypeScript development with zero config. Initially created to solve my own problem but thought it might be useful for others as well. - SWC compiler - TypeScript type check support - Live reload support - .env file support - Path alias support - Typescript script runner - REPL support Please tell me I am not going down a rabbit hole.
Just is a command-line tool that enables TypeScript development without configuration setup. It includes the SWC compiler for fast compilation, type checking, live reload functionality, environment variable support… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hello HN! I'm the creator and solo developer of Extension.js, a development tool for browser extensions with built-in support for TypeScript, WebAssembly, React, and modern JavaScript. Developers use it to spend less time configuring the compilation config or learning new frameworks and more time actually writing code. Most projects similar to Extension.js rely on some sort of abstraction or configuration to get started, making the initial development process slow given the extra learning curve and setup guidelines. By using Extension.js, adding the package to your npm scripts is all it…

Hi HN! I'd love to seek your insights on a fullstack web framework that employs a different approach: no build. It's not a new concept. The folks as Preact mentioned it: https://preactjs.com/guide/v10/no-build-workflows/ However, in the Web Framework market, I've yet to find many that support both "no build" and "SSR". There's always some sorts of "client mount" and "server mount" and either has (or both have) to go through a build (bundling) process. With the build process, there comes additional maintenance efforts and cognitive load. I've enjoyed wrestling…

ts-remove-unused is a command line tool for TypeScript projects that auto-fixes unused `export`s. It removes the export keyword from the declaration or the whole declaration based on its usage in the project. There are some similar tools but they are focused on "detecting" rather than "removing" so I've built one myself. I wanted a solution that's as minimal as possible; config files to specify the files in your project shouldn't be necessary because that info should be already configured in tsconfig.json. All you need to do is to specify your entrypoint file. Feedback is much appreciated!

We've been building Crust (https://crustjs.com/), a TypeScript-first, Bun-native CLI framework with zero dependencies. It's been powering our core product internally for a while, and we're now open-sourcing it. The problem we kept running into: existing CLI frameworks in the JS ecosystem are either minimal arg parsers where you wire everything yourself, or heavyweight frameworks with large dependency trees and Node-era assumptions. We wanted something in between. What Crust does differently: - Full type inference from definitions — args and flags are inferred automatically. No…

Hi HN, we are Nick and Ben, creators of Axilla - an open source TypeScript framework to develop LLM applications. It’s in the early stages but you can use it today: we’ve already published 2 modules and have more coming soon. Ben and I met while working at Cruise on the ML platform for self-driving cars. We spent many years there and learned the hard way that shipping AI is not quite the same as shipping regular code. There are many parts of the ML lifecycle, e.g., mining, processing, and labeling data and training, evaluating, and deploying models. Although none of them are rocket science,…

We've built a new type-stripping compiler for TypeScript source: `ts-blank-space` It's: * 5.6x faster than `tsc` due to zero-codegen * Written in TypeScript * Uses the official TypeScript parser * Accurate/preserved source locations * In used in production It uses the same novel approach that inspired Node 22.6.0's `--experimental-strip-types` functionality, released last month

Spent a week in the break building a pre-compiler that brings type safety to runtime. Still pretty early, but generally does what it says. Looking for feedback, code that breaks it (check out the playground), ideas etc.

Hey HN! We just released a new library for building LLM-powered applications: @axflow/models. It is part of a larger suite of libraries we're developing for TypeScript developers working with generative AI. This library provides the simplest APIs for 1) invoking the most popular LLM and embedding models (openai, anthropic, cohere, huggingface, etc.) 2) streaming LLM responses to clients, including augmenting the streams with additional arbitrary data and 3) building client-side applications with React hooks. @axflow/models has zero dependencies and is built using only the…
