Hey HN, This is Kanon 2 Enricher, the first hierarchical graphitization model. It represents an entirely new class of AI models designed to transform document corpora into rich, highly structured knowledge graphs. In brief, our model is capable of: - Entity extraction, classification, and linking: identifying key entities like individuals, companies, governments, locations, dates, documents, and more, and classifying and linking them together. - Hierarchical segmentation: breaking a document up into its full hierarchy, including divisions, sections, subsections, paragraphs, and so on. - Text…

Hi HN, I’m a co‑founder of Embeddable AI. After struggling to add interactive AI experiences to Wix, Shopify, Webflow, WordPress sites, I built this tool to let marketers build chatbots, quizzes or assistants and embed them anywhere with a snippet. Built in React/TypeScript front end and Node.js logic engine. It loads fast and works across CMS platforms. I’d love feedback from builders and marketers on use cases, missing features, or integration ideas.

As a grad student (and an ADHDer), I had trouble doing literature review systematically. To combat this, I made a website that finds similar papers using the meaning of the thing I am looking for. I used MixedBread's [^1] embedding model to generate vectors from the abstracts. I store and search similar vectors using Milvus [^2] and finally use Gradio [^3] to serve the frontend. I update the vector database weekly by pulling the metadata dataset from Kaggle [^4]. To speed up the search process on my free oracle instance, I binarise the embeddings and use Hamming distance as a metric. I would…

I've been playing with embeddings and wanted to try out what results the embedding layer will produce based on just word-by-word input and addition / subtraction, beyond what many videos / papers mention (like the obvious king-man+woman=queen). So I built something that doesn't just give the first answer, but ranks the matches based on distance / cosine symmetry. I polished it a bit so that others can try it out, too. For now, I only have nouns (and some proper nouns) in the dataset, and pick the most common interpretation among the homographs. Also, it's case sensitive.

After working with LLMs for long enough, I found myself wanting a lightweight utility for doing various small tasks to prepare inputs, locate information and create evaluators. This library is two things: a very simple model and utilities that inference it (eg. fuzzy deduplication). The target platform is CPU, and it’s intended to be light, fast and pip installable — a library that lowers the barrier to working with strings semantically. You don’t need to install pytorch to use it, or any deep learning runtimes. How can this be accomplished? The model is simply token embeddings that are…

Hey HN, we're happy to release Mycelium, a JavaScript library for creating graph visualizations of machine learning models or any other directed acyclic graphs. Mycelium powers the graph viewer of the Talaria [0] a research model visualization and optimization system, which was used to optimize the efficiency of Apple Foundation Models [1]. Everything works entirely on the client-side in the browser — we provide a rudimentary ONNX loader out of the box, which you can try by dragging model files into our website. It is also simple to define loaders for your own model formats. The library was…

Author here. I just wanted a quick and easy way to easily submit strings to a REST API and get back the embedding vectors in JSON using Llama2 and other similar LLMs, so I put this together over the past couple days. It's very quick and easy to set up and totally self-contained and self-hosted. You can easily add new models to it by simply adding the HuggingFace URL to the GGML format model weights. Two models are included by default, and these are automatically downloaded the first time it's run. It lets you not only submit text strings and get back the embeddings, but also to compare two…

Hello HN, I'm excited to introduce Emu2, the latest generative multimodal model developed by the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI). Emu2 is an open-source initiative that reflects BAAI's commitment to fostering open, secure, and responsible AI research. It's designed to enhance AI's proficiency in handling tasks across various modalities with minimal examples and straightforward instructions. Emu2 has demonstrated superior performance over other large-scale models like Flamingo-80B in few-shot multimodal understanding tasks. It serves as a versatile base model for developers,…

Hey HN, I'm excited to share the Massive Legal Embedding Benchmark (MLEB) — the first comprehensive benchmark for legal embedding models. Unlike previous legal retrieval datasets, MLEB was created by someone with actual domain expertise (I have a law degree and previously led the AI team at the Attorney-General's Department of Australia). I came up with MLEB while trying to train my own state-of-the-art legal embedding model. I found that there were no good benchmarks for legal information retrieval to evaluate my model on. That led me down a months-long process working alongside my brother…

We’ve recently open-sourced Model2vec, a method to distill sentence transformers into static embeddings that outperform all previous approaches by a large margin on MTEB. Our new models set a new state-of-the-art for static embeddings. Main features: - Our best model (potion-base-8M) has only 8M parameters, which is ~30mb on disk - Inference is ~500x faster than the distilled base model (bge-base), on a CPU - New models can be distilled in 30 seconds on a CPU without requiring a dataset - just a vocabulary - Numpy-only inference: The packaged can be install the package with minimal…

Hi Hacker News! We’re Vadim and Chris from Highlight.io [1]. We do web app monitoring and are working on using LLMs/embeddings to add new functionality to our error monitoring product. Given that there’s a lot of founders/engineers using LLMs in their products, we figured we’d share how we built the new functionality, their impact on our workflows, and how you can try it out. Our goal was to build two features: (1) tagging errors (e.g. deeming an error as “authentication error” or a “database error”); and (2) grouping similar errors together (e.g. two errors that have a different…

Hey HN! We’ve just open-sourced model2vec-rs, a Rust crate for loading and running Model2Vec static embedding models with zero Python dependency. This allows you to embed text at (very) high throughput; for example, in a Rust-based microservice or CLI tool. This can be used for semantic search, retrieval, RAG, or any other text embedding usecase. Main Features: - Rust-native inference: Load any Model2Vec model from Hugging Face or your local path with StaticModel::from_pretrained(...). - Tiny footprint: The crate itself is only ~1.7 mb, with embedding models between 7 and 30 mb. Performance:…

Introducing embeds.ai: an embedding playground to compare how embedding models work on a real world use case (retrieval augmented generation for Wikipedia articles + Elad Gil's High growth handbook) A few weeks ago, Shreyan and I were looking for an embedding model to use for RAG. We eventually came across the MTEB leaderboard, but we struggled to understand the benchmark scores. We wanted a tool to test various embedding models with example queries on real-world datasets. After unsuccessfully looking for such a “playground”, we decided to just build one ourselves! We embedded HuggingFace’s…
