Products that do what Kula – a family health platform that makes sense of your data does
My parents are in India, I'm in the US. Their health system was continuous WhatsApp photos of lab reports, vague updates over the phone, and me finding out about doctor visits weeks later. So I built Kula. Upload lab reports (photo, PDF, WhatsApp forward) and it have them parsed and track trends. Connect a wearable and track daily health signals as well as your baselines. Everything goes into one record you can search and review over time. There's a chat layer where you can ask questions in plain language like, "what's my dad's cholesterol trend showing", and get a sourced answer from your…

Hey Hacker News, I’m excited to share a tiny service that’s very close to my heart - Today Has Been. Here’s how it works: We have a phone number that has WhatsApp Business API enabled. Your messages sent to this number (after you activate your free trial) are added to your journal. It’s a super light weight journaling service - no app download or registration is required. We also send you a daily nudge asking “How did your day go?” and after you have a few posts we send you a random blast from the past. Why I built it: I was an active user and fan of Ohlife - only journalling app that could…

Hello HN! I've been thinking about the idea of a LLM thats a clone of me - instead of generating replies to be a helpful assistant, it generates replies that are exactly like mine. The concept's appeared in fiction numerous times (the talking paintings in Harry Potter that mimic the person painted, the clones in The Prestige), and I think with LLMs, there might actually be a possibility of us doing something like this! I've just released a fork of the facebookresearch/llama-recipes which allows you to fine-tune a Llama model on your personal WhatsApp conversations. This adaptation can…

I built Kurisu to solve a specific problem I kept encountering: analyzing sensitive data in offline settings without IT approval or cloud uploads and without needing to login and out of accounts on every device i own. The constraints led to interesting technical decisions: *Single-file architecture:* The entire app is one HTML file. No build process, no npm install, no deployment. You can WhatsApp it to yourself and open it on any device with a browser. This bypasses corporate IT restrictions and makes distribution trivial. *Statistical engine in Web Workers:* Implements Spearman Rank…

Hey HN! As I sat to write my 2025 reflection, I realized one thing I was missing was a ‘year wrapped’ for my relationships — I got my music, got my photos, got my fitness wraps — but what about my relationships? Specifically, I wanted to figure out what my text conversations say about my relationships and myself, and if there’s been evolution throughout the year. Who reaches out more? What’s our tone and conflict resolution? What were our month by month successes and conflicts? So I built an app that analyzes WhatsApp conversations (.txt files) and surfaces the patterns — using Anthropic’s…
