Products that do what Leanternet – A directory of lean internet websites does

Hi, this is Alex Dragusin and I've created the Leanternet directory at https://www.leanternet.com a directory of lean internet websites that load fast and are straight to the point without the bloat. Feel free to recommend websites that are not on the list and that follow the leanternet principles. You can do so here or through my e-mail. I've wrote a set of principles that help as a starting point in possibly getting an awareness movement going before "solutions" like Borg AMP would assimilate further. We can have fast and efficient websites without ceding further control by…

I saw a comment here about how there are so many indexes of indie sites, blogs, etc but there wasn't an index of all the indexes. So I built it. It doesn't require a log in, just go browse! I've curated about 30 or so, but there is a submission form if there are ones I am missing. Also happy to take UI improvements because I am not great in that area!

I work on R00M 101, a Reddit-based OSINT profiler. While building it, I realized most open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools are scattered across GitHub, outdated blog posts, or random Discords. So I put together a public-facing directory of 100+ OSINT tools used by analysts, journalists, and security folks, free, filterable, and categorized by risk, platform, and use case. The idea was to make something useful and no-friction. Built with static HTML + SQL backend + a lot of caffeine. Would love feedback on how to improve the UX or tool curation. If anyone wants to contribute tools or help…

Hello HN! I've been working on http://underthesite.com for the last month and now think it is ready for some full strength HN feedback. What do you guys think? It crawls up to 10 pages of a given site while you wait, looking for community-provided CSS / XPath selectors and regular expressions. Additionally, I'd like to appeal to you to submit matchers for technologies that you care about. Technologies are easy to add, so add your favorite jQuery plugins, analytics tools, client-side node.js wrappers, what have you. I'm going to be running a large crawl in the next few days and want to make…

This is a previous project I decided to relaunch. There's tons of directories that accept all submissions, but I feel like that just waters down the platform. It also isn't fair for the amazingly built tools and services. I pivoted to a premium-only directory and feel like charging a small fee, while it might take longer to build the portfolio of listed tools, they'll be of much higher quality than other platforms.

Hi all, I like RethinkDB a lot. One year ago, I started to document it because I want to learn more about it. At first, I blog, at one point I started to writing it in markdown, using pandoc to convert it into PDF then I switched to Leanpub. At some point, I almost abandon it. But finally I make effort to go back and almost finish it. Here is the result of one year: http://leanpub.com/simplyrethinkdb I also open source it on here(But it helps if you make an purchase on leanpub anyway :D): http://github.com/kureikain/simplyrethink The book is still WIP…

One year ago, I downloaded the news.arc code and decided that I would teach myself programming by building a better aggregator. At that time, I had some rudimentary HTML knowledge, and little FORTRAN under my belt. I knew that I wanted an aggregator that could support a wide range of submissions, and one that could scale without losing quality for the user. Hubski is what I have to show for my time and effort. The easiest way to describe Hubski is to say that it uses a commenting system akin to HN or Reddit, but uses a sharing scheme like Twitter. You have a personal feed comprised of the…

Hi HN, We participated at the Mozilla WSOH (http://wsoh.eventbrite.com/) over the summer. It was a hackathon organized by Mozilla for interns all over Silicon Valley with an attendance of over 300+ interns from Facebook, Google, etc. A friend and I made SurfControl and were the winners of the hackathon. We just pushed our product live and would love to get feedback! ------------- About SurfControl: "SurfControl is an add-on that shows you how you waste time online, and gives you tools to block or limit your time spent on different websites." It is a Firefox add-on and can be downloaded at…

This is a combination of Show/Ask HN. I've been working on my side project, BitHub.com, for several years now. The issue is that on the revenue side there’s a big fat zero and I'm kinda lost to where to go from here. I'd love to keep the project going, but it obviously needs a new perspective and some novel ideas. If anyone from the community has any recommendations as to where to look for a better direction for the project, I would to love chat. I'm almost at a position to sell the domain and shut the whole project down, but something inside of me fights against this idea.

Do you want to monetize a private group/ channel/ community? Use Subjoin to create a personal membership page in minutes. It's easy to use and free to try out. No need to integrate Stripe if membership is free. - - - - I have never built something this fast, what a thrill! I saw there was no easy way to create a simple subscription page. Big platforms are confusing and expensive for simple needs. - - - - What are you building? Would love to connect with like-minded people on X: @tjmakingof

Hey HN! I made a completely open sourced alternative to Weights and Biases with (insert cringe) blazingly fast performance (yes we use rust and clickhouse) Weights and Biases is super unperformant, their logger blocks user code... logging should not be blocking, yet they got away with it. We do the right thing by being non blocking. Would love any thoughts / feedbacks / roasts etc

A small project I whipped up. I'd like to add features to it gradually, and eventually make it an email hosting/forwarding service for the everyman. Until I get around to making the rest, though, it's still a useful domain search for people (not companies). http://www.yourpersonaldotcom.com/
