hey guys. the other day i was migrating hosting providers and i just needed something not too heavy and convenient to spin up my backups for awhile and realised there is almost nothing out there. kimchi hasn't been updated for years and cockpit is heavy. so here's something i came up with in a couple hours because of a sudden urge, nothing fancy just basic creation with cloud init, lifecycle management and image/storage, but it's modern-ish and it compiles to a 8.4mb binary inclusive of the embedded web UI, CLI and API, and only dep is libvirt.

The standard GPU utilization metric reported by nvidia-smi, nvtop, Weights & Biases, Amazon CloudWatch, Google Cloud Monitoring, and Azure Monitor is highly misleading. It reports the fraction of time that any kernel is running on the GPU, which means a GPU can report 100% utilization even if only a small portion of its compute capacity is actually being used. In practice, we've seen workloads with ~1–10% real compute throughput while dashboards show 100%. I do fullstack dev for work and side projects and recently moved everything to a couple VPSs on hetzner. dish is a lightweight, 0 dependency monitoring tool in the form of a small binary executable. Upon execution, it checks the provided sockets (which can be provided in a JSON file or served by a remote JSON API endpoint). The results of the check are then reported to the configured channels. Hi HN, Some misbehaving networks drop WireGuard packets either by accident or on purpose. Commonly the latter is done with simple DPI rules that block the handshake initiation [1], but it could be applied to other message types as well.
