Over the last two years, I developed a tournament system called Bracket. Most (if not all) tournament systems available online are paid and ask tons of money (a typical minimum subscription costs 50 euros per month, and go up to 500 euros per month or so), which is not feasible for many small sport clubs/individuals. So I developed my own system and put it publicly on GitHub. AFAIK this is the only open source tournament system available that has a significant amount of features. I made this tournament system for my badminton club and hosted six paid tournaments successfully. It…

Hi all! With the World Cup around the corner, and being a football fan, I went looking for apps that would give me a detailed overview of groups, matches categorized by group or team, a daily timeline of when games happen that day (especially useful for us in Europe, since some games run pretty late), and a way to follow my favorite team or teams. The problem I ran into was that most apps out there are pretty bloated — like, really bloated. I couldn't find a nice worldcup bracket visualizer out there so ended up building one. It's nicer than the ones I saw out there. There is no login, no ads, runs client side, uses localStorage and all the state is encoded in the URL itself and you can share it. The calendar feature is nice. I wanted to build my own schedule for the games I was interested in. There is full calendar that you can subscribe to as well, that gets updated as the fixtures get decided. I also wanted to be able to interactively change things and visualize the whole knockout stage. All the state is in the URL fragment.…

Hey all! I built Golazo because I wanted a minimal but effective way to get soccer live updates and catch up on finished matches right in my terminal. No browser tabs, no ads, no distractions: just clean match data where I already spend most of my day. I couldn’t find any actively maintained tool like this, so I thought it could be cool to build something just for what I need. It was a great learning experience and if it’s useful to other people, then even better! Current features: - Live match tracking with real-time score updates (90-second polling intervals) - Minute-by-minute match…
