24 alternatives to Metadocs, kinda like Reddit, but built into every documentation

Hi, I'm Ritinkar and I'm building metadocs, which is kind of like reddit built into every documentation ever. It's a chrome extension that allows discussion on any webpage to happen there itself. Currently I have built threaded comments, and a upvote/downvote system. Plus I've built this cool feature called Highlights, which lets you discuss specific lines in any documentation. As well as a feature called Top Hightlights, which shows the most interesting hightlights on any webpage. Hope you guys will try it out. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask me here. Thanks.

It enables users to leave threaded comments and vote on content, with a Highlights feature allowing discussion of specific… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. I got fed up with Notion, so I built my dream document editor. It's all markdowned so it's easy to view skills or other agent-related documents. It's got the collaboration features I love from Figma (shared cursory and the ability to follow) and Google Docs (comments, realtime editing). Then you can export the diff and comments to an agent. I've been really liking it for talking over skill documents live on a call. I'm curious if this resonates with other people. More generally, I feel like notion is less and less relevant in an age where documents have a very different purpose and Markdown…

htmldocs is an Overleaf-style editor for typesetting documents using HTML/CSS, which provides the same benefits as LaTeX while being more accessible, customizable, and familiar. I built this because I wanted to programatically generate invoices as well as automatically tailor my resume to jobs but had no good way of generating well-formatted PDFs. I ended up building a templating engine to Chromium rendering pipeline to generate PDFs, and due to the amount of engineering effort, turned it into a tool for others that might want to do the same. There's a built-in API…

I built this last year but never posted it anywhere, but now with Reddit hiatus it seems like the right time to give it a shot. The main goal of zsync is to foster high quality content and discussion. That's it. If it can't accomplish that, then to me it is a failure. I watched Reddit go from having high quality discussion in 2008-9 to devolving into the PC meme dumpster it is today [1]. HN still has the highest discussion quality of any "forum" I know of, but (1) it can sometimes randomly be very hostile/toxic to new tech, the most glaring example being crypto. (2) HN is basically a…

Hey HN! I spent way too much time manually searching Reddit for mentions of problems my SaaS solved. I'd search keywords daily, miss conversations by hours, and get buried when I finally showed up. So I built Upvotics to automate the listening part. It monitors subreddits for keywords, tracks mentions as they happen, and surfaces conversations where people are already asking for what you're building. What it does: - Real-time keyword tracking across subreddits - User/subreddit engagement analytics (karma, post frequency, sentiment) - Rule checker (catches common removal triggers before…

    Pigeon▲99

Hey HN, My friend and I built a Chrome extension called Pigeon because we kept Googling “Reddit + [product name]” whenever we wanted to know what real people thought about something. Pigeon saves that step by looking at what’s on the page, finding related Reddit discussions, and showing the most helpful comments and opinions in one place. We’ve both found it super useful when researching products or topics online and thought others might too. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hey, I am Victor, a french student. I was tired of getting really bad recommandations from the algorithm, always the same videos, same topics. So I created a community-driven recommandation tool, with upvotes like Product Hunt or Hacker News. Looking for something to watch or want to share something you liked? Feel free to check the site, it's free, no account needed (unless you want to share or upvote a video).

I built this for myself. I make videos, and my biggest bottleneck is figuring out what to say to my audience without staring at a blank page. So I built Scriptmine: a tool that listens to Reddit conversations in my niche, finds high-signal topics, and turns them into scripts. How it works: - Track subreddits and discussions relevant to a niche - Rank topics by engagement/momentum - Generate a hook/body/CTA draft in a chosen voice/format
