Products that do what Monitoring your OpenAI usage without a third party does

LLM observability is an absolute must-have for anyone running something in prod (or prod-like). While all the observability startups are great, you're essentially sending all your OpenAI usage history - prompts, generations, chats - to a random third party. So this script deploys a basic proxy in your Azure account, catches all incoming OpenAI requests, stores logs in your own resource group, and comes with visualizations premade (charts, timelines, chat history, cost estimation, etc). Thanks for any thoughts and feedback!

Hi hacker news, My name is Dillion and I'm the creator of llm.report. A few months ago, I was frustrated by the lack of observability into the OpenAI API. All of us are left in the dark about API performance, latency, cost calculation, cost breakdown, and more. I just wanted to know more about how my AI app is performing in production and make data-driven decisions to improve the product. So I ended up just building it myself. There are three parts to the platform: 1. OpenAI API Dashboard (no-code) - Enter your OpenAI key and get access to detailed insights straight from the OpenAI API…

Hi! My OpenAI costs started going up recently and I hated how I couldn't figure out which model was costing me more? The OpenAI usage page (https://platform.openai.com/account/usage) gives a nice overall breakdown, but it doesn't go into detail about cost / model, token usage, and # requests. So I reverse engineered their API to make a better dashboard, and then made it free to use. Try it out and let me know what you think. Also please tell me what other features you wish existed here https://platform.openai.com/account/usage but doesn't yet.

I built TraceAIO, an open-source tool that prompts LLMs on your behalf and tells you whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini mention your brand — and which competitors and sources show up instead. Yeah, this category smells a bit like a grift, same as early SEO. And I think over time it will become just SEO again, and become about good content. The tool just helps you monitor over time. It queries the browser products through real browser sessions, not APIs, runs on Docker, with an MCP server so you can query your own data through an LLM. No business model, Apache 2.0, self hosted. If you…

Hey HN! I built Lumina – an open-source observability platform for AI/LLM applications. Self-host it in 5 minutes with Docker Compose, all features included. The Problem: I've been building LLM apps for the past year, and I kept running into the same issues: - LLM responses would randomly change after prompt tweaks, breaking things - Costs would spike unexpectedly (turns out a bug was hitting GPT-4 instead of 3.5) - No easy way to compare "before vs after" when testing prompt changes - Existing tools were either too expensive or missing features in free tiers What I Built: Lumina is…

Hi HN, we’re Dylan and Matthew, building sublingual (https://github.com/sublingual-ai/sublingual), an open-source LLM observability tool you can use with zero code changes. As developers focused on iterating and building features as fast as possible, we felt observability would’ve been a helpful tool to have, but we found existing solutions had too much overhead to set up. So we gave ourselves the challenge of building an observability tool that you can integrate without changing a single line of code in your project. How it works Run your python application as usual with…

Hey HN, I've been working on something cool that I wanted to share with you all. It's called Viewpoint, an analytics tool for LLMs like OpenAI, Anthropic models, and Gemini. The idea came from the constant flood of new LLM models and the need to figure out which ones work best for my projects without breaking the bank. With viewpoint, I can track token usage, costs, latency(WIP), and traffic over time, making it easier to compare different models and see which ones perform best and save money. The tool works asynchronously, so it doesn't add any latency to your LLM requests, and you have…

Built a simple web app that tells you which open-source LLMs will work on your hardware. It auto-detects your specs, shows compatible models from Hugging Face, gives realistic performance estimates (tokens/sec), and recommends quantization settings. You can also manually input specs to see "what if I upgraded my RAM?" Made this after wasting time downloading giant models only to find they crawled on my hardware. Hope it saves you some frustration!

Hey HN, Ola and Karthik here. We are working on Langtrace(https://github.com/Scale3-Labs/langtrace), an open source, open telemetry based SDK and monitoring/evaluations client for LLM based applications. The SDK generates OTEL standard spans and traces for popular LLMs like OpenAI, Anthropic and Cohere, popular frameworks like Langchain and LlamaIndex and vectorDBs like ChromaDB and Pinecone. The LLM monitoring/evaluations space has seen a number of products off late, both open source and closed source ones. But, a couple of things we have observed are: lack of…

I’ve spent the last 2.5 months building a product that runs LLM-powered code reviews on my pull requests — and I just launched it. The tool is built specifically for solo developers. You install it on your repo, trigger a scan by creating a pull request, and it leaves structured review comments using OpenAI under the hood. Funnily enough, I used the dev version of this app to review its own pull requests while building it. It helped me spot bugs, simplify structure, and keep quality high — all with minimal need for another human in the loop. Things I want to try out in the next months : -…

Demo starts at 50m into the video. This was a bit terrifying to record because 2am the previous night everything was totally broken after a major refactor (so that we could add external LLM support as well as local GPUs). But pressure can be a useful force :-D We start with a stack deployed on my laptop without a GPU, pointing to together.ai so we can run open source LLMs easily without having to have access to a GPU. We show simple inference through the ChatGPT-like web interface (with users, sessions etc) and then simple drag'n'drop RAG. Then we show some helix apps defined as yaml: Marvin…

Hi HN, Matvey, Ildar, Joey, and Dominik here. If you're building LLM agents that use tools, you're probably worried about prompt injection attacks that can hijack those tools. We were too, and found that solutions like prompt-based filtering or secondary "guard" LLMs can be unreliable. Our thesis is that agent security should be handled at the network level between the agent and the LLM, just like a traditional web application firewall. So we built Archestra Platform: an open-source gateway that acts as a secure proxy for your AI agents. It's designed to be a deterministic firewall against…

Hi HN, I’m a solo developer and built AgentWatch to solve a problem I kept running into while building AI agents: preventing runaway loops and unexpected LLM spend before requests reach the model. AgentWatch sits in front of OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Groq, and others to enforce budgets and runtime policies. I’d really appreciate your feedback. If you’re building AI agents, does this solve a problem you’ve experienced? I’d also love to hear what you’d improve or challenge.

Live demo here: http://fonctionlabs.com:8000 Similarly to aka_sh (guess we were working parallelly on similar topics), I created with my brother a chainlit-based webapp, which summarizes Youtube videos in order to gain time. It works as an RAG-based LLM, and is very light in the sense that it does not use RAG libraries like langchain or llamaindex. You can use it with your own OpenAI API key. It also supports local models like Mistral, or Llamma. It is ofc open-source, and you can deploy with Docker if you choose. Some of the next steps are: - using whisper to be able to compute a…
