24 alternatives to My 'pet' project, a Tinder-esque experience for rescuing dogs and cats
I have a rescue dog - a 6 year old German Shepherd mix. When we rescued him I couldn't believe how many animals there were at all the shelters and animal control centers, and how hard it was to find out about them. I built a simple site (https://rescueapet.benswork.space) which connects you with available dogs and cats in your area :-) It uses data from local shelters and pulls it all into one place, so you can make a shortlist of animals, then reach out to the shelter to adopt. I was honestly surprised that something like this didn't already exist. Let me know what you think!

Hello HN, I’ve always been passionate about animal welfare, and after noticing the challenges faced by both adopters and shelters, I decided to create PetsRescue. It’s a web app that simplifies the animal adoption process, making it easier for people to find and adopt pets in need. The goal was to create a platform that’s user-friendly, secure, and accessible to everyone who wants to make a difference in the lives of animals. I’d love to hear your feedback on it. Cheers,

Dog API▲275Hello there, happy holidays. I've been maintaining for 6 years this Dog API that only returned facts. I recently rewrote the project to make it more flexible [1] and I had a blast doing so. This API has been used by a lot of computer science students, as well as bots and other 3rd party services that integrated in the past. The old endpoint receives around 1,000-1,500 requests per day, which makes me happy. The goal is to extend it to make it more interesting and usable, I collect dog data in my spare time. I'm not looking to monetize it, it's just for the love of education. Feel free to use…
