I have a rescue dog - a 6 year old German Shepherd mix. When we rescued him I couldn't believe how many animals there were at all the shelters and animal control centers, and how hard it was to find out about them. I built a simple site (https://rescueapet.benswork.space) which connects you with available dogs and cats in your area :-) It uses data from local shelters and pulls it all into one place, so you can make a shortlist of animals, then reach out to the shelter to adopt. My weekend hack project was to put together a small web app for sharing links in the spirit of memepool.com. It uses a bookmarklet to let people clip interesting articles to share while reading and uses a subset of markdown to add links and blockquotes to posts. http://imagestash.org/ Kind of like Instapaper for images. While surfing at home one evening I found the perfect desktop background ... for my work machine. I had this domain for some time and I never got around to make a project for it.
