24 alternatives to My Python Solver for the On-Time Arrival Problem in Traffic Congestion

A discrete-time Python-based solver for the Stochastic On-Time Arrival routing problem - mehrdadn/SOTA-Py

This is a Python tool designed to solve the on-time arrival problem in traffic congestion scenarios. It helps developers calculate optimal routes or timing strategies to predict and manage arrival times under congested… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. I made a public transport route planning program that's capable of planning journeys across Europe or North America! There's only one other FOSS project I know of (MOTIS/Transitous) that can do transit routing at this scale, and in the testing I've performed mine is about 50x faster. I've spent a few weeks on this project now and it's getting to the point where I can show it off, but the API responses need a lot of work before they're usable for any downstream application. Example query (Berlin to Barcelona):…

I was developing/selling this application under Roadometry, but sales are getting slow and I'd prefer to make it available for free. This is a desktop Windows application which can be used for counting road traffic. https://roadometry.com https://www.youtube.com/@roadometry2011 The application uses Multiple Hypothesis Tracking (MHT) combined with Darknet Yolo. I trained the network myself. I have a tool-chain for building a video-based training set including associations, but it's quite complex to use. I never ended up training a network to perform association,…

Hi HN, I turned the freshly published paper “The Constructor Theory of Time” by David Deutsch and Chiara Marletto (arXiv, 13 May 2025) into an executable Python library. What you’ll find • One-to-one translation of the paper’s formalism: Substrates, Attributes, Tasks, Constructors, and task-algebra operators • Possibility / impossibility predicates and counterfactuals encoded exactly as defined • Test suite that mirrors every lemma and example (>95 % coverage, mypy-typed) • Reproductions of key results: time-keeping substrates, irreversibility proofs, quantum branching tasks, and a…

Hi HN, Jack here! I'm one of the creators of MonkeyPatch, an easy tool that helps you build LLM-powered functions and apps that get cheaper and faster the more you use them. For example, if you need to classify PDFs, extract product feedback from tweets, or auto-generate synthetic data, you can spin up an LLM-powered Python function in <5 minutes to power your application. Unlike existing LLM clients, these functions generate well-typed outputs with guardrails to mitigate unexpected behavior. After about 200-300 calls, these functions will begin to get cheaper and faster. We've seen 8-10x…

I trained a GPT-2-size model on historical incident data used to predict things that will go wrong. I include a Multi-Agent RL Urban Mobility model in progress displayed on the map as small white cubes representing traffic and pedestrians. Around SF, it uses real census data and…

Hi! I've built this because I kept reaching for Celery for simple scheduled tasks and it felt like overkill. I just needed "run this function every hour" or "daily at 9am", not distributed workers. So it's decorators for scheduling (@scheduler.every(5).minutes, @scheduler.daily.at("09:00")), state saves to JSON so jobs survive restarts, and there's an optional FastAPI dashboard if you want to see what's running. No Redis, no message broker, runs in-process with your app. Trade-off is it's single process only — if you need distributed workers, stick with Celery.
