Pressdeck▲311As a long time indie developer, I always needed a way to promote our products, talk to influencers, journalists, and share our story. Press kits are essentials to make these communications smoother and more pleasant. However, sharing information via public Google Drive folders and Dropbox folders is outdated and does not leave a lasting impression... So, I've built Pressdeck - an online press kit builder your products! I'd love for your to try it out and let me know how to make it better for your niche!

Sup HN, So I got tired of bouncing between Flightradar, MarineTraffic, and Twitter every time something kicked off globally, so I wrote a dashboard to aggregate it all locally. It’s called Shadowbroker. I’ll admit I leaned way too hard into the "movie hacker" aesthetic for the UI, but the actual pipeline underneath is real. It pulls commercial/military ADS-B, the AIS WebSocket stream (about 25,000+ ships), N2YO satellite telemetry, and GDELT conflict data into a single MapLibre instance. Getting this to run without melting my browser was the hardest part. I'm running this on a laptop…

TL;DR▲199I love Hacker News but I rarely have time to read full articles / comments, so I built a simple site to summarize the top posts & comments to make it easier to get a big picture. A few implementation details: - It pulls the top stories from the HN Firebase API (`/v0/topstories`) - Filters stories with >200 points - Uses Claude Sonnet for post + comment summaries - Tries to capture the sentiment of the comments (still working on improving this) - Refreshes both posts + summaries hourly It has already helped me I hope it helps you! Please let me know if you have any feedback --…

Hi everyone, XDeck is an client app for macOS as a TweetDeck alternative, with Ad-Blocking! I developed this for myself after feeling disappointed that TweetDeck has become a paid service. I hope you find it useful too.

Please check it out. I spent all of 2012 learning to code to launch what would eventually become Uncover. I'm super excited to announce that we're finally live. Here's a blog post I wrote on how we got there and a little story behind the startup: http://spencerfry.com/introducing-uncover

Psychology research is currently facing a crisis: A significant amount of published studies cannot be reliably reproduced. Yet these studies will still be used in news headlines, and treated as fact. Research into social media has not been immune to this either, with the problem exacerbated by study designs that don’t match the real world. We built the Misinformation Game to aid in this problem. Our tool allows researchers to design social-media studies that look and feel like social media, while also making sure that each participant has a similar experience. This is really important for…

Hey HN! We're building an open-source CMS designed to help creators with every part of the content production pipeline. We're showing our tiny first step: A tool designed to take in a Twitter username and produce an "identity card" based on it. We expect to use an approach similar to [Constitutional AI] with an explicit focus on repeatability, testability, and verification of an "identity card." We think this approach could be used to create finetuning examples for training changes, or serve as inference time insight for LLMs, or most likely a combination of the two. The tooling we're…

I wanted to quantify the endless "which knife should I buy" debates on r/chefknives, so I built a data analysis pipeline to get some real answers. The project is a 5-phase system built with Node.js. It first uses Fuse.js for fast, typo-tolerant fuzzy matching of ~450 known brands and ~8,700 models. The remaining text is then passed to an LLM (via OpenRouter) for discovering new, unknown entities and performing sentiment analysis on every mention. I ran it on over 1,000 threads, totaling more than 25,000 comments. A few interesting findings: The Underdog: Budget-friendly Tojiro has a…

Hey my name is Crisa and this is my first post here on HN. I love this site and it inspired me to build a clone of it for my newsletter. Instead of having a boring landing page, I hope to gather articles, blogs, interesting projects on my own platform. I would appreciate any feedback, good or bad so that I can improve the site. A year and a half after I published https://HackYourNews.com, I've rewritten it to be neater and added support for more news sources. HackYourNews.com v1 had a great response on HN [1] and consistently sees ~2k weekly unique visitors. There were many long-standing requests that I wanted to fulfill (thanks for your patience!): a proper dark mode, correct rendering on mobile devices, and more cogent summaries. This rewrite is the result. gpt-4o-mini reduces the cost of summarization to an absurd degree, so it's now sustainable to keep this free service going! Someday, I hope to use…

Hi HN! I’m Chris, Co-founder of Fide. When contracting for Celsius in 2019, a recently bankrupt crypto-lending platform, I quickly observed how important it was for every Web3 company to establish credibility and trust in a high-risk industry where fraud and scams are becoming increasingly common. As I continued to invest and build in the space, it became clear that existing tools are still not enough to effectively evaluate credibility. Common issues that keep coming up include: 1. Repeat scammers are rarely held accountable 2. Anonymous contributors can’t easily establish credibility 3.…

I haven't seen anything like this so I decided to build it in a weekend. How it works: You see a bunch of things pulled from Wikipedia displayed on cards. You ask yes or no questions to figure out which card is the secret article. The AI model has access to the image and wiki text and it's own knowledge to answer your question. Happy to have my credits burned for the day but I'll probably have to make this paid at some point so enjoy. I found it's not easy to get cheap+fast+good responses but the tech is getting there. Most of the prompts are running through Groq infra or hitting a cache…

Hey HN, I have been working on using the info-gathering and truth-seeking properties of the markets to get more honest reporting on all sort of things. The idea is to have a market game where people can wager a fake currency on what think is true and then, the citizen reviews the crowd-sourced information and makes a judgement about which position has the best case. It is crowd-sourced journalism with a market game. Please let me know what you think and my email is [email protected], if you have any questions.
