Products that do what Newcomer Ranking – Alternative to GitHub Trending for New Repos does
I've been working on git-stars.org and created a "Newcomer Ranking" that I think does a better job of discovering new popular projects than GitHub Trending. While GitHub Trending often shows the same established repositories cycling through, my Newcomer Ranking specifically focuses on repositories that are both new AND gaining significant traction recently.

Several months ago, I built a "stealth" feature that I could use. It hasn't been advertised, and I've been the only user. As I find it useful for myself, I believe others (software developers) may like it too. I created a leaderboard showcasing the top 1000 GitHub repositories based on the number of stars. With GitHub hosting over 100 million public repositories, this leaderboard highlights the top 0.001% in terms of the number of stars. Stars might not be the perfect metric for adoption—metrics like the number of monthly downloads could be more accurate—but this list still represents some of the most popular and influential projects in the open-source community. We've indexed 5M+ GitHub users and built a ranking system that goes beyond follower counts. The idea started from frustration: GitHub is terrible for discovery.
