Leaderboard of Top GitHub Repositories Based on Stars
I created a leaderboard showcasing the top 1000 GitHub repositories based on the number of stars. With GitHub hosting over 100 million public repositories, this leaderboard highlights the top 0.001% in terms of the number of stars. Stars might not be the perfect metric for adoption—metrics like the number of monthly downloads could be more accurate—but this list still represents some of the most popular and influential projects in the open-source community. You can check out the leaderboard here: https://githublb.vercel.app/
In plain words
This tool displays a leaderboard of the top 1,000 GitHub repositories ranked by star count, representing the most-starred 0.001% of projects across GitHub's 100 million public repositories. Created for developers and open-source enthusiasts, it serves as a reference for discovering influential and popular projects in the open-source community. While stars may not perfectly reflect adoption compared to metrics like download counts, the leaderboard provides a useful snapshot of projects that have gained significant attention from the developer community.

Several months ago, I built a "stealth" feature that I could use. It hasn't been advertised, and I've been the only user. As I find it useful for myself, I believe others (software developers) may like it too. So, this is the first public post about it, and if it gets any positive feedback, I may put some time into promoting it more. In essence, given that you've opened a GitHub repo (there are ~225k of the more popular ones indexed as of now), you can replace "github" with "libhunt" within the URL, and you will find the top alternatives and related projects. Many years ago, I made VJ softwares (to mix live visuals in clubs) for unexpected platforms like the Game Boy Advance, the Playstation 2 and the Raspberry Pi. This year, I’m back with a new web-app: Pikimov. Inspired by Photopea (a free Photoshop clone), I created this web-based motion design & video editor as an alternative to After Effects, to fill empty void. It's free, without signup, without cloud uploads (your files stay on your machine), and your projects are not used for AI models training.
