Hey HN, after the app I actually used to track my period wanted me to log in and save my data in the cloud, I decided to write my own. Most apps in this area are based on a subscription model and display far too much information anyway. For me, a simple calendar is enough where I can add a few notes if necessary. So that is the result of my work - a simple design and the data is only saved on the smartphone.

Hey HN! I'm Dris, I'm 17, and for the past few months, I've been solo-developing Parkt, an app that lets you quickly reserve or sell parking spots. Parking sucks - it's expensive, hard to find, and you usually overpay or get a ticket. With Parkt, you can reserve parking in 2 taps, or list your unused space in under 5 minutes. It's now free to download on iOS (with Android coming soon)! You can also check out a demo on the site if you're interested. If you know someone who might use Parkt, sharing the app would be super helpful! Feedback is also appreciated.

I was a bit concerned when Google was sending comms about decommissioning Timeline on web. Then they did a mobile migration, and lost a bunch of user info. Started this app so I can always have a copy of my timeline on my icloud + server + device (3,2,1 rule) Hope y'all are able to find some value in it as well! BTW here is all the streets I've walked in NYC in the past 10 years: https://share.takeallroads.com/s/0Hq7jYxhS698Xyip-r4Prg (video version: https://imgur.com/a/e8p9aXt)

There’s something quietly unsettling about how normal it's become to hand over our most personal data to apps that barely deserve our trust. My wife once showed me a notification she got from her period tracking app. At first, it seemed like a simple reminder. But then came the ads. Not long after, she started getting eerily specific suggestions on other platforms. Things she hadn’t searched for. Things that felt too close. Somewhere, her cycle had been turned into a data point. That bothered me more than I can explain. These apps promise helpful insights. But in return, they take so much.…
