I have been working on Octelium for quite a few years now but it was open sourced only by late May 2025. Octelium, as described more in detail in the repo's README, is simply an open source, self-hosted, unified platform for zero trust resource access that is primarily meant to be a modern alternative to corporate VPNs and remote access tools. It can operate as a remote access/corporate VPN (i.e. alternative to Twingate, Tailscale, OpenVPN Access Server, etc...), a ZTNA/BeyondCorp platform (i.e. alterntive to Cloudflare Access, Teleport, Google BeyondCorp, etc...), and it can also…

Hey HN! I went to an ATProto meetup last week, and as a burnt-out semi-academic who hates academic publishing, I thought there might be a cool opportunity to build on Octopus (https://www.octopus.ac/), so I got a bit excited over the weekend and built Octosphere. Hopefully some of you find it interesting! Blog post here: https://andreasthinks.me/posts/octosphere/octosphere.html

We just launched Outerbase Studio, the open-source version of our core database offering. It works in your browser or as a desktop app and supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite. What it does: • Connects to MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite databases. • Spin up local databases directly through the UI, even if you don’t have one running. • Manage and query your data in a lightweight, intuitive interface. • Completely open source. Why we built it: We wanted to share the core Outerbase experience with the developer community as a free, open-source tool. It’s simple, fast, and removes the barriers…

You can check out the quick start for spinning things up in the repo here: https://github.com/hyperdxio/hyperdx ClickStack makes it really easy to instrument your application so you can go…

I started this as a weekend project and posted it on HN 5 years ago. 300,000 users later, I just released v4 today. Octotree [1] gives GitHub a sidebar that improves file navigation and code/pull request review. Works on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Any comment or feedback is appreciated. Our open-source application allows users to obtain events, metrics, and unencrypted payload data from applications running on Linux. The AppScope dev team are looking for feedback from the community to help create the roadmap for future releases. Here, a video describing its capabilities: https://youtu.be/can1dMonRcA
