I made a Terminal UI for OpenSnitch[1], an interactive application firewall for Linux inspired by Little Snitch. I’ve always wanted to create a TUI and found the perfect excuse to make this for usage on one of my headless servers. I wrote this in Rust to force myself to learn more, viz. async features. Super open to feedback and contributions! [1] https://github.com/evilsocket/opensnitch

I made this because I thought it would be useful to be able to use a webview in the terminal. I also provide an SDK called ratatui_orzma. For example, I think it could be used to render rich UI components such as charts with a webview as part of a TUI application, port web tools to ratatui, or embed games built with Wasm inside the terminal.

How puffnfresh, my coworker, made a single command to download, assemble, and boot the VM image is arguably as cool as the port itself!

Last week I wanted to quickly view some Gaussian splats which I had trained on a remote server that didn’t have any open ports or a display device. So I ended up downloading everything locally just to inspect the results This weekend I put together a terminal-based Gaussian splats viewer that renders directly in the terminal. It works over SSH and currently runs on CPU only and written in rust with claude code. I’ve found it to be pretty useful for quickly checking which .ply files correspond to which scenes and getting a rough sense of their quality. Along the way, I also wrote a small…

I made my first macOS utility app that ships with a bundled Gemma 4 model, specifically the Gemma E4B one. It made my app DMG have 5.3 GB in size, but I think it is a small size for the power that this free local model can provide. It runs fine on CPU, but can also run on Apple Silicon GPU, although I did not notice any performance improvements with GPU (tested on a M5 chip). I think these local lightweight and multimodal models will open multiple possibilities for new software tools where privacy is essential.

Hi, I've made a Dis virtual machine and Limbo programming language compiler (called RiceVM) in Rust. It can run Dis bytecode (for example, Inferno OS applications), compile Limbo programs, and includes a fairly complete runtime with garbage collection, concurrency features, and many of the standard modules from Inferno OS's original implementation. The project is still in an early stage, but if you're interested in learning more about RiceVM or trying it out, you can check out the links below: Project's GitHub repo: https://github.com/habedi/ricevm RiceVM documentation:…
