Products that do what Open Source AI Playground for Prompt Engineers does

Hi HN, We're a small team building AI tutors out of India, and as you might guess, this means we spend a ton of time writing, testing, and refining prompts for LLMs. When we started out, we were using the OpenAI playground but things became tedious when we wanted to compare responses from different models. We tried a bunch of other playgrounds but found them lacking in some features so we built our own. I’m Hayden, a 13-year-old developer based in Australia, and I’ve built a CoT logical thinking and reasoning AI model similar to OpenAI o1. It's powered by open source small models like Llama 3.1 and 3.2 and I would love for you to try it and share your feedback with me. You can try it here: https://ai.pixelverse.tech/app/cortexchat I built it just for fun and launched it a day after the o1 release. It's not perfect yet but its still amazing to see how a detailed prompt can have such a difference on the quality of the LLM response! Please let me know any feedback or…

Hi HN. I heard you like dev tools and AI, so we wanted to share our project that we’ve been working on. We’re working on Horizon [1] - a higher level abstraction for LLMs so that developers can spend less time trying to grapple with LLMs to make them work and more time with users. This is the starting feature set which takes an auto-ML approach to identify the optimal LLM model, hyperparameters, and prompt - instead of just giving you the tooling to figure it out yourself. You can read more about it in our documentations. Our view is that as LLMs become increasingly commoditized and prompts…

Hi HN! I'd love your feedback for this AI storytelling game. Remember when you used to read choose-your-own adventure books as a kid? We're trying to re-create that. The site lets you create adventures by seeding them with parameters that end up feeding LLMs: title, genre, writing style, etc. Once you've done that, you can play your book like a game: with custom chapters, illustrations, voice narration, choices, and dice rolls. We’re really into the idea of merging the open-ended generative AI with goal-directed story arcs that the game author can control. Everything is open source (links…

Hi HN, I'm pleased to share Promptspot, an open-source (Apache License 2.0) project that helps automate testing of large language model (LLM) prompts against an array of input data. Modern LLMs offer an enormous amount of leverage if you "teach the bot to fish" — i.e. simply prompt it with both a "system prompt" (which typically doesn't change often) and a dynamic input, which is often application state, search results, recent activity, user profile data, etc. Existing playgrounds and prompt management systems often lack the rigor and flexibility required for this dynamic approach — and as…

Hey HN! I love the OpenAI Playground UI but I don't love the Auth0 implementation causing me to waste precious minutes entering 2FA codes... so I spent a week cloning the basic features of the OpenAI Playground UI, all in a single HTML file. You can try it on github pages[0] or run it locally in your browser. Just paste your API key and hit start to begin using it. You can also add your key to the URI fragment[1] and bookmark it to start immediately. [0] https://minwidth0px.github.io/gpt-playground [1] like https://minwidth0px.github.io/gpt-playground#API_KEY

Hi everyone, We have been developing a platform to enable professionals to build AI assistants to help them through their work. After a few months, we realized people are trying to sell basic functionalities that can be built from scratch in a couple of hours. Due to this, individuals who are not familiar with the current SOTA are misinformed about the potential of generative models. So, we decided to open up some of our most popular templates as standalone tools for free to empower individuals and set a solid standard for what people should expect. We believe the barrier to accessing…

Hey HN! I'm excited to share Genschool (https://genschool.com), a new hands-on way to learn prompt engineering. Prompt engineering has quickly become one of the most important skills in the AI and tech industry over the last few years. As AI models grow more powerful and versatile, the ability to effectively communicate with and guide these models has become increasingly valuable. However, despite the growing demand for prompt engineering skills, the number of high-quality educational resources in this field is still pretty sparse. Many existing resources focus on theoretical…

Every time I wanted to use LLMs in my existing pipelines the integration was very bloated, complex, and too slow. This is why I created a lightweight library that works just like scikit-learn, the flow generally follows a pipeline-like structure where you “fit” (learn) a skill from sample data or an instruction set, then “predict” (apply the skill) to new data, returning structured results. High-Level Concept Flow Your Data --> Load Skill / Learn Skill --> Create Tasks --> Run Tasks --> Structured Results --> Downstream Steps And the bast part: Every step can be saved and reused as…

I’ve spent the last 2.5 months building a product that runs LLM-powered code reviews on my pull requests — and I just launched it. The tool is built specifically for solo developers. You install it on your repo, trigger a scan by creating a pull request, and it leaves structured review comments using OpenAI under the hood. Funnily enough, I used the dev version of this app to review its own pull requests while building it. It helped me spot bugs, simplify structure, and keep quality high — all with minimal need for another human in the loop. Things I want to try out in the next months : -…

Hi all, I threw together a small prototype I am calling “Notepad.ai”. A new take on UIs for interacting with LLMs. While I enjoy using LLM’s in the chat format I wanted to see what it would be like to do it in a more long form style. It let’s you write in a pretty free form, much like Window’s Notepad, but you can choose to hit ctrl+[ to analyze the text with a preset prompt of your choosing. It has a few other small features. It’s WIP and very experimental. I would appreciate any feedback or thoughts. Video: https://youtu.be/ntdlgFmSxQY Live Demo:…

Hi, I have been building small AI Agents for quite some time now using various frameworks and one thing that always bugged me was that iterating on small things like prompts, flows, tools etc always took a code change + deployment of the app. While the prompt part can be solved with Langfuse I haven't found a good way to keep the flow management remote (and open source). Lately I have been working with Genkit (https://github.com/firebase/genkit) and love how modular it is. So I thought why not build a UI builder on top of that that can handle simple flows, prompts and…

We built Weam because we felt existing AI tools didn’t work well for teams. Everything was scattered across chats, prompts, and workflows — hard to share, harder to organize. Weam is an open-source platform that tries to fix that. Organize prompts, chats, and agents into “Brains” (team folders). Run agents and even Pro Agents for workflows. Bring your own LLM keys (works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Llama, etc.). Self-hosted, so you keep control of your data. Includes RAG pipelines for document-based AI. It’s early but we’d love feedback. Repo here:…

Hey HN, After GPT-3 created waves in the tech industry, a lot of AI tools were emerging and with that, some AI website builders But the results seemed way too generic to us. It felt like the developers were rushing to catch the wave instead of building a proper tool We took our time, did months of RnD and finally came up with something better than what others in the market are doing. It’s got better design output. While it’s still in beta, I wanted to show HN what we did. Will appreciate the feedback when you guys try it out. Here is the link to signup for the beta:…
