This is a MVP for Serverless Postgres. 1/ It uses Fly.io[0], which can automatically pause your database after all connections are released (and start it again when new connections join). 2/ It uses Oriole[1], a Postgres extension with experimental support for S3 / Decoupled Storage[2]. 3/ It uses Tigris[3], Globally Distributed S3-Compatible Object Storage. Oriole will automatically backup the data to Tigris using background workers. I wouldn't recommend using this in production, but I think it's in a good spot to provoke some discussion and ideas. You can get it running…

I had this backup code working reliably for years, using local file system, vps/dedicated server, or remote storage for backup, then I finally get time to wrap README, iron few missing switches and publish. Should be production ready and reliable, so it could be useful to others. Contributors are welcome.

AliasVault (https://aliasvault.net) is an open-source, self-hostable, end-to-end encrypted password and (email) alias manager that protects your privacy by creating alternative identities, passwords and email addresses for every website you use. Hi HN - I’m Peter, here with Harry (devhawk), and we’re building DBOS Java, an open-source Java library for durable workflows, backed by Postgres. https://github.com/dbos-inc/dbos-transact-java Essentially, DBOS helps you write long-lived, reliable code that can survive failures, restarts, and crashes without losing state or duplicating work. As your workflows run, it checkpoints each step they take in a Postgres database. When a process stops (fails, restarts, or crashes), your program can recover from those checkpoints to restore its exact state and continue from where…

OVault is a super simple iOS and macOS app that lets you store and view your OTP codes for two factor authentication. I found that my personal favourite OTP app Authy seemed to be getting worse with each iOS release. Its usability has never been great, and iOS 18 meant that it lost its Home Screen Widget that let me view my OTP codes without opening the app. I decided to switch to another app, then became frustrated that I couldn't easily export my secrets from Authy. Of course I'm sure there are good security related reasons for this, but I didn't want to migrate all my OTPs just to end up…
