Hello Everyone, I'm excited to introduce a new open-source observability platform and would love to hear your feedback. We are aware that there are lots of open-source/commercial tools out there. However, we believe that monitoring the clusters and extracting actionable insights requires deep know-how about the tools/domain. We mainly focused on this problem. - Alaz is an eBPF agent installed on your K8s cluster as DaemonSet. Thanks to eBPF, Alaz collects traces directly from Linux kernels. This means there's no need for sidecars, instrumentations, or service restarts. - The UI not…

My company launched a new open source web browser built on Chromium. It supports decentralized domains on Handshake and is the first browser to support .eth DNS. It is also the first browser to support secure web browsing with DANE. Check it out: https://impervious.com/beacon https://github.com/imperviousinc/beacon

Hey HN! I want to share a new open source project I've been working on called Trench (https://trench.dev). It's open source analytics infrastructure for tracking events, page views, and identifying users, and it's built on top of ClickHouse and Kafka. https://github.com/frigadehq/trench I built Trench because the Postgres table we used for tracking events at our startup (http://frigade.com/) was getting expensive and becoming a performance bottleneck as we scaled to millions of end users. Many companies run into the same problem as us (e.g.…

Hey HN, My name is Jack Naglieri. I’m the founder of Panther Labs - an SF-based cybersecurity startup. Prior to Panther, I was an engineering manager at Airbnb. Before that a security engineer/analyst/forensic analyst. Today, I’m excited to announce Panther v1.0, an open source, cloud-native SIEM: http://github.com/panther-labs/panther Teams can use Panther as an alternative to traditional SIEMs like Splunk. Panther is the culmination of our team’s experience building security tools at scale, including StreamAlert at Airbnb and critical internal monitoring…

Keep track of forests in your area by viewing changes in tree cover over time. I’ve build this as a demo of what you can do with the ArcGIS library and the geo data that is offered by Global Forest Watch and Esri. Don’t forget to click the history button. Works best on desktop! The demo is build with React and open source: https://github.com/vnglst/koenvangilst.nl/tree/main/app/(bla...

Hi. We just open sourced Bullet Train, a Feature Flag and Remote Config platform. It's a collection of tools: server API, admin front end and clients for a bunch of different platforms. Together they allow you to control feature flags and remote config across projects, environments and users. We realised that we were building ad-hoc feature flag stuff into individual projects over and over, so we had a look around to see if there was a way of doing this in a more formal manner. There are a few commercial solutions around but they were quite expensive and seemed to be aimed more at the…

LLM observability is an absolute must-have for anyone running something in prod (or prod-like). While all the observability startups are great, you're essentially sending all your OpenAI usage history - prompts, generations, chats - to a random third party. So this script deploys a basic proxy in your Azure account, catches all incoming OpenAI requests, stores logs in your own resource group, and comes with visualizations premade (charts, timelines, chat history, cost estimation, etc). Thanks for any thoughts and feedback!

Hi HN! We're excited to share Gulp — an open-core platform for incident response and threat hunting we've been building for the past 2 years at Mentat(https://mentat.is), a small Italian cybersecurity company. The problem: We were frustrated with existing IR tools. They're either too slow, make real-time collaboration painful during live incidents, or force you to fight with different log formats instead of actually investigating. What Gulp does differently: - Visual timeline analysis — Our color-coded timeline visualization lets you spot anomalies instantly. Instead of drowning in…
