Hey, guys. I've just made a plugin which turns your pandas dataframe into a tableau-style component. It allows you to explore the dataframe with easy drag-and-drop UI. You can use PyGWalker in Jupyter, Google Colab, or even Kaggle Notebook to easily explore your data and generate interactive visualizations. PyGWalker (pronounced like "Pig Walker", just for fun) is named as an abbreviation of "Python binding of Graphic Walker". Here are some links to check it out: The Github Repo: https://github.com/Kanaries/pygwalker Use PyGWalker in Kaggle:…

Hey HN! I’m excited to share sketch: a tool to help anyone who uses python and pandas quickly iterate and get to answers for their data questions. Sketch installs as a pandas extension that offers utility functions that operate on natural language prompts. Using the `ask` interface you can get answers in natural language. Using the `howto` interface you can get get python and pandas code directly. The primary benefit of this over copilot and chatGPT is that this adds data-content based context so that the generated answers are much more accurate and relevant to the data problem at hand.…

Every data pipeline job I had to tackle required quite a few components to set up: - One tool to ingest data - Another one to transform it - If you wanted to run Python, set up an orchestrator - If you need to check the data, a data quality tool Let alone this being hard to set up and taking time, it is also pretty high-maintenance. I had to do a lot of infra work, and while this being billable hours for me I didn’t enjoy the work at all. For some parts of it, there were nice solutions like dbt, but in the end for an end-to-end workflow, it didn’t work. That’s why I decided to build an…

Dear HN, I am Riwaj, the cofounder of dstack.ai (https://github.com/dstackai). A few months ago, we built an online service that allows users to publish data visualizations from Python or R. The idea was to build a tool that did not require additional programming or front-end development for publishing data visualizations. Such a code can be invoked from either Jupyter notebook, RMarkdown, Python, or R scripts. Once the data is pushed, it can be accessed via a browser. Open-sourcing dstack: During our customer discovery phase, we realized that dstack.ai should integrate a lot…

Hello Hacker News! We are Rick & Yannick from Orchest (https://www.orchest.io - https://github.com/orchest/orchest). We're building a visual pipeline tool for data scientists. The tool can be considered to be high-code because you write your own Python/R notebooks and scripts, but we manage the underlying infrastructure to make it 'just work™'. You can think of it as a simplified version of Kubeflow. We created Orchest to free data scientists from the tedious engineering related tasks of their job. Similar to how companies like Netflix, Uber and Booking.com…

Here's a project I've been working on for a little while now. Ripl is a JS library that provides a unified API for rendering shapes on both canvas and SVG interchangeably. Over the years I've used D3 extensively to create data visualisations so I figured I'd have a go at making my own version with a slightly more modern API and stricter TypeScript support. I am aware there are already libraries that can draw to multiple contexts interchangeably, but I've added a few little niceties to Ripl that (as far as I know) some other libraries don't have such as CSS-like query selectors, DOM-like…

Just launched DataFuel.dev on Product Hunt last Sunday, and I landed in the top 3! I built this API after working on an AI chatbot builder. Scraping can be a pain, but we need clean markdown data for fine-tuning or doing RAG with new LLM models. DataFuel API helps you transform websites into LLM-ready data. I've already got my first paying users. Would love your feedback to improve my product and my marketing!

Hi HN – Excited to share a beta for Minard, a new data visualization toolkit we've been working on that lets you generate publication-quality charts with simple natural language (throw away your matplotlib docs and rejoice!). Upload or import CSVs, Excel, and JSON, give it a spin, and please let us know what you think! (Long format data works best for now) For those curious, the stack is a simple Django app with HTMX/Alpine and all of the charts are specified and rendered as Vega (https://vega.github.io/vega/). Lots of LLM function calling under the hood as well.

Hello HN! We’re Leo and Mandeep, founders of Datapane (https://datapane.com). We're building a way to create reports, dashboards, and web apps from your existing data using Python. Think of it as a combination of React and htmx, specifically designed for the Python data stack. Our GitHub is https://github.com/datapane/datapane and you can try building a report or app in ~2 minutes on Codespaces: https://try.datapane.com We started building Datapane at our previous start-up, where we struggled to deliver ML model results to clients. Much to our…
