Products that do what ParseHawk – 100% Local Document AI with API, CLI, and Web UI does

I just released ParseHawk v0.1.0: Apache-2.0 licensed 100% local document AI platform that extracts JSON from PDFs, images etc. It builds on top of NuMind's NuExtract3 but additionally enforces a provided JSON schema with constrained decoding. It works on Apple Silicon with pre-bundled vllm-metal as well as Linux + NVIDIA with vllm. Looking forward to your feedback!

I’m one of the co-founders of Doctly AI. I wanted to share our story. We didn’t originally set out to build a PDF-to-Markdown parser. It all started when we were building a RAG solution for a company that deals with regulatory agencies. All of their data was in PDFs, and as it is apparently with lawyers, they like to print and scan documents to make it hard on their counterparts. These documents contained complex tables that barely make sense, are rotated, and handwriting is mixed in between. Many pages are number ruled and potentially rotated. We spent a lot of time trying to get clean data…

I built OpenParser because I wanted PaddleOCR-VL-1.6 behind an endpoint I could actually use. Now there are open-sourced CLI and TypeScript/Python SDKs: ``` npm install -g @openparser/cli openparser auth login openparser parse sync document.pdf ``` That is basically it. It doesnt get easier and cheaper that this. Give it a PDF and get back the text and document structure. Repo: https://github.com/eigenpal/openparser I would love feedback from anyone willing to try the CLI and tell me what is still annoying.

I built this because I was tired of scrolling through hundreds of lines of AWS CLI JSON output just to find instance status. hawk brings pandas-like operations (select, group_by, aggregations) to CLI with unified syntax across JSON/YAML/CSV. Key features: - Instant data structure overview with `| info` - Same query syntax for all formats - Built in Rust for speed and single-binary distribution Would love feedback from the community!

Hi HN, I'm one of the creators of Nanobrowser, an open-source Chrome extension that lets you automate web tasks using AI agents. We were inspired by the potential of tools like OpenAI's Operator, but we wanted something that was: -Open-Source:You can see the code, modify it, and contribute to the project. -Browser-Based:No complex setups or server deployments. It runs directly in your browser. -Customizable:You can tailor the agent's behavior to your specific needs. -BYO LLM:Bring your own large language model API key (OpenAI, Anthropic,or even local models), No vendor lock-in. -Privacy…

Dear HN Community, I am a long time fan and first-time contributor. I just launched a developer focused semantic search platform and wanted to share it with the community. The idea is simple: upload structured or unstructured documents, select the fields you want to index and tag as metadata, and instantly get a clean search API you can use in your own app. Here is what it currently supports: - Manage your own tenants and projects - Upload .json and .txt files (support for .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .yml, etc. coming soon) - Expose 3 APIs: search, upload document (embeddings), and delete document -…

Hey HN! I really like local apps for their simplicity and privacy and hate paying Saas bills and I wanted a way to start automating my life with AI so I started building Anything. Anything is built on Tauri so the front end is React and the "backend" is Rust. It's 100% local & 100% doesn't ask you to spin up docker to use. Another core goal of the app is to get away from "package bloat" you see in other general purpose AI oss projects where they have a package.json that is 300 lines long ( more on that later. ) Oh btw I suck at Rust! I learned Rust while building this so the code is _not…

Hey HN! I wanted to practice "vibe coding" and see how far and fast I can go by only prompting, without actual coding. I decided to make a simple CLI app that scrapes web docs into a single md file (I was annoyed that LLM keeps writing Tailwind 3 code for a Tailwind 4 project). In just a couple of hours, the CLI app was ready! Then iterated on arguments for another couple of hours. Result: https://github.com/vladstudio/web2llm Then I decided to go further and "productize" the CLI by making a web app for it. Another half-day, and the web app is ready!…

Hi HN, For the last ~15 years I've worked on embedding web browsers into Java and .NET desktop apps (JxBrowser, DotNetBrowser). Over time, I watched many teams move from embedding web views into native apps, to building full desktop apps with frameworks like Electron and Tauri. Both are useful, but in practice I kept running into several problems. With Electron, beyond the larger app footprint, I often ran into: - lack of type-safe IPC - no source code protection - weak support for the modern web stack Tauri solves some problems (like app size), but introduces others: - different WebViews…

Hi all, I wanted a robust way to keep track of my receipts without needing to keep them in a box and so i found paperless - but the existing paperless ai projects didn't really convert my receipts to usable data. so I created a fork of nutlope's receipthero (actually it's a complete rewrite, the only thing that remains over is the system prompt) The goal of this project is to be a one stop shop for automatically detecting tagged docs and converting them to json using schema definitions - that includes invoices, .... i can't think of any others right now, maybe you can? If you do please make…
