This is a little toy project of mine that lets you simulate digital logic graphs. It was inspired by Minecraft's Redstone and the Piet esolang. It's got some serious drawbacks-- you write circuits as PNGs and simulate them with a Python interface. It's slow to run and slow to experiment with. And it is certainly difficult to use for people with any kind of color blindness. But despite that, I hope this can still be a fun toy!

I am a Dutch high school student and last year I had to do a large project of my own choice. Together with two other guys I decided to do a project about digital logic. We had an ambitious plan: building an 8-bits computer. At that time I started learning programming and I already knew some HTML and CSS. So we decided to not build a physical computer, but one running in a self-built simulator. I was going to build the simulator, the other guys took care of the computer. I was hard, our school hadn't taught us anything about computers and programming so we had to learn everything ourselves.…

We're integrating with the awesome project Matter.js (http://brm.io/matter-js/) as a Physics engine for our HTML5 animation app. Here's a quick demo video showing it specifically in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHI-hNjiors In developing, I'd often spend hours playing with it making complex rube goldberg setups and pinball machines :).

Hi HN. I built a prototype AI physics tutor that can interpret, draw, and edit free body diagrams. Lately I've been transfixed with generating diagrams with LLMs. If you pipe generated JSON through a D3.js renderer, you can get pretty consistent SVG results with the smarter models. This physics tutor prototype is an example of an application. For a couple premade scenes, you can ask it to make an FBD, decompose an angled force into components, run through the math of Newton's Second Law, or off-road and try and generate a FBD for a scene of your own description. I previously made a similar…

We're excited to release PaperQA2, an open source RAG library specialized to work with the scientific literature. We've seen some really compelling results with it (https://paper.wikicrow.ai), like superhuman performance at question answering and summarization when compared with expert scientists. PaperQA2 is a major overhaul of our prior PaperQA system, it includes automatically obtained rich metadata for each paper, a CLI to work with local papers directly, a local full-text search engine for keywords searches over PDF files, a state-of-the-art algorithm for LLM-based re-ranking…

A few weeks ago, during the LK-99 hype, I made a demo app to explain superconductors in simple terms using RAG over relevant Wikipedia pages. I thought it would be cool to extend this to all physics-related Wikipedia pages (which turns out to be ~ 14K). After getting the text and splitting the pages, I ended up with around 100K chunks. I created all the embeddings using OpenAI’s embedding API, which cost around $7. I stored all the vectors in Pinecone.

Hey HN! I built Experiment to solve a common frustration in LLM development: the lack of proper tools for prompt engineering experimentation. Here's what makes it different: Key Features: - Load and edit chat completion logs from CSV files - Fork and modify specific conversation entries - Run inference via Anthropic, Mistral, and OpenAI - Define custom tools using JSONSchema format - Visual tool usage analysis with collapsible, sorted key-value pairs - Full mobile support and available as installable PWA Technical Highlights: - Built with React using custom isomorphic architecture -…
