Products that do what Procedural Music Workstation in the Browser does
As a side project for a hockey manager game, I created a small audio tracker, "HM Tracker," which was used to make the game's music. It is a browser-based tracker-style music workstation. All sound is procedurally generated from oscillators - no samples, no plugins. The UI lets you edit patterns on a step grid, pick instruments and chords, then export as a standalone JS music engine or WAV file. Built with vanilla JS and the Web Audio API (best experienced on a desktop browser). Made in the '90s demoscene spirit (at least the looks, anyway). Would love any feedback!

I've been tinkering with a browser-based rhythm game creation tool. The pitch is simple: AI makes the music, Essentia.js figures out the beats, and you write the game logic in JS. Demo: https://rhythm-seodang-web.vercel.app/ The problem I wanted to solve: most rhythm game workflows are heavy. Proprietary editors, manual charting, fixed gameplay patterns, desktop-only. I wanted something where you could just... open a browser tab and start messing around. How it works: - Music comes from AI services (Suno/Udio). No user uploads, no copyright headaches. - Essentia.js (WASM…

I recently launched my side project I've been building with Meteor js over the past few months. It uses the Soundcloud, Hypemachine, and exfm public APIs to pull in your 'favorite' tracks from each of your usernames provided. It's gives you a unified playlist of all your favorite tracks across the different sites. Audio is being played using the HTML5 Audio API, so it currently only works in Chrome and Safari. Built with: * Meteor JS – http://Meteor.com * Bourbon Sass Mixin Library – http://bourbon.io * Spin.js – http://fgnass.github.io/spin.js/ *…

Hey y'all, So - the main idea of this is to make a WebAudio synthesis/sequencer tool which humans can use via the UI, but where the big unlock is for agents to drive with MCP It's semi decent as "make a groovy jazz track", especially for retro sounds - but the real use case is more like "make a jetpack whoosh effect I can control via code at runtime - where the sound changes based on character health or how much fuel is left" In other words, the target audience is not musicians (except maybe of the Max/MSP sort), but more like creative coders who want to shape the sound iteratively…

Have been making music using ML/AI tools for about as long as I've been on HN. Had a recent comment section on HN here [1] and after that thought it might be worthwhile to write out about the journey in greater detail... from crude LSTM models, to hacking around with Jukebox, and now Suno. Hey everyone, I've built a multiplayer audio recorder/looper for songwriting in your browser. It started as a side project in March last year but 3 months ago I quit my job to work on it full-time. I wanted the simplicity of a Portastudio and the utility of a loop station to serve as an easy way to get song ideas together without needing to send files back and forth, or get lost in the complexity of traditional DAWs up front - just record or upload your ideas and share the link with whoever you want to collaborate with. Would love to hear what you think of it! Any feedback, thoughts, or…

Hey all. For the last few years, I have been developing a software synthesizer as a side project. It's taken longer than I both hoped and feared, but earlier this week I finally shipped 1.0. Details about the synth itself are up on my website, https://lhiaudio.com/. For those who are unfamiliar, in music production, there are host applications (such as Logic Pro, Ableton Live, or REAPER) in which most of the work (such as recording or sequencing MIDI data) is done. These applications generally have some built-in tools for the actual generation and processing of audio data, but…

Hey HN! Last week I was working on a website and needed a way to synchronise visuals with live music. I've used MIDI controllers for this before, but I am travelling right now and don't have mine with me. So I had the crazy idea to build a browser extension that uses the keyboard as input and includes a sequencer. I gave myself 24 to work on it. It ended up taking longer (of course), specially since I ended up creating a demo, a small landing, docs, and an intro video. Took me one week from idea to launch (pushed quite a bit tbh). Features: - Works as a browser extension. Atm distributed…

URL: http://mixcastr.com/ The end of the weekend is here, and my project (roughly 15 hours) is done. It's called Mixcastr, and it uses the Sound Cloud API to serve songs from their platform, based on user queries. So yeah, it's really just a glorified search interface - but I had fun making it. Hopefully next weekend I'll expand on its functionality/utility. Breakdown: Sinatra, Twitter Bootstrap, SoundCloud JavaScript SDK, and Heroku, Polymorphs, CloudMade

A buddy and I decided to hack on this little project this weekend, putting in about 12 hours. It's running Ruby on Rails, deployed to Heroku. We tried to keep things super lean with different gems handling user accounts, mailchimp for an email list and super lean styling/layout. Everything should work well enough on mobile devices, too, so give it a look! Right now the magic all happens via the Soundcloud API (of course), but we're exploring different ways to make this appeal to a broader audience of music listeners. We'd love your feedback! Here's the site:…

>>>>> TimeForZen.com <<<<< This took months to put together. Learning javascript, using the sound manager 2 api. Finding the perfect creative commons photos on flickr. It's such a ridiculously simple site (just a curated list of music) but I went through hell debugging and getting it to work. I learned an extreme amount. My advice to designers who can't code, keep it simple, just get it done don't worry about optimization, don't worry about a backend. Code everything manually if you have to. I've kept it simple out of necessity. I'm a designer, not a…

I built a free and open-source, high-resolution, real-time audio visualizer on the web. Try it out here: https://audiovisualizer.org The main feature is a very high resolution frequency domain visualizer. It even works in realtime with the microphone. The application also features a synthesizer that can be played with the keyboard or MIDI files and allows for adjustable harmonics and ADSR envelopes. I used React.JS as the framework, P5.JS for rendering the visualizations, the WebAudio API for audio analysis, Meyda.JS and Essentia.JS for feature extraction, Tone.JS for synthesis,…
