Over the past few weeks I've been working on a small application to view trending repos on GitHub. I built the PWA[1] with React, Next.js and GraphQL .. but what's interesting is the application is only using React server side, meaning the client side javascript is only a few lines code adding some event listeners and registering a service worker for offline capability. This helped me achieve a perfect google chrome performance audit I learned a ton working on it and would love to talk about it if anyone has any questions! GitHired▲360Hey HN - today I’m launching GitHired. A hiring platform that ranks developers based on what they actually build — not what they claim on a PDF. It’s called GitHired, and here’s the core idea: GitHub > Resumes Instead of trusting “proficient in React” bullet points, we analyze a candidate’s actual GitHub: their real tech stack their most complex projects how active they are what kinds of contributions they make which skills match your job description and yes, we detect fake “green square farming.” Why we built this Because engineering hiring is broken. Resumes are inflated. Activity charts…

RepoSweeper▲57I built this in 2018 as a school project to bulk delete GitHub repos. It got 25k views on Medium and ~10k users organically, then I basically ignored it for years. Recently I dug into GitHub's community discussion board and some low hanging fruit for feature additions — archive, visibility changes, collaborator cleanup. GitHub's answer was always "use the API." So I built the UI. RepoSweeper now does: - Bulk archive / unarchive - Bulk visibility (public ↔ private) - Bulk collaborator add/remove - Staleness scoring so you know what to act on first - Handles 100+ repos with…

StackHound▲10If you’ve ever explored GitHub repos and felt frustrated by how little you can tell about a project’s real tech stack — you’re not alone. That’s exactly why I built StackHound https://www.producthunt.com/posts/stackhound It goes beyond the GitHub API to scan dependency files and uncover the actual tools, frameworks, and languages a repo uses — whether it's built with React, Next.js, Tailwind, Flask, or Spring Boot. Just drop in a GitHub username and repo to analyze it instantly. You can also use our /api/analyze endpoint to plug it into your own tools. Try the…

Hey I'm Adam, I built GitSage because I wanted an easy way to browse code and developers I was unfamiliar with. I had a question about react, and wanted to look into their repo directly, but I wasn't very fluent in JS, and the library is large and complex, how would I know where to start? Or who to ask? That's why I built GitSage, I wanted to be able to ask an AI Agent about a library or project like React, about its technical details, and that the current development looks like. It's still in the early stages, with plans to add GitHub MCP servers within the week. The product is entirely…

GitStory▲11Hi HN, I built GitStory to turn GitHub contribution graphs into a 'Spotify Wrapped' style cinematic experience. The Tech: It's built with Next.js 16 and uses the GitHub API to fetch user data. Challenges I solved: Rate Limits: GitHub's API is strict, so I implemented aggressive caching and optimized the queries to fetch everything in minimal calls. Animations: Used Framer Motion for the slide transitions to make it feel like a native mobile app on the web. Privacy: It supports public profiles by default, but you can use a fine-grained token for private repos (the token is never stored, only…
