Hey HN! I'm Zach from Adam (https://adam.new/). We’re building an AI co-pilot for mechanical CAD software. As part of our broader research, we built a browser-based Text-to-CAD app (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44182206) and are now open sourcing it. This is a React SPA with a Supabase backend. What it does: * Generates parametric 3D models from natural language descriptions, with support for both text prompts and image references * Outputs OpenSCAD code with automatically extracted parameters that surface as interactive sliders for instant dimension…

Gemma Gem is a Chrome extension that loads Google's Gemma 4 (2B) through WebGPU in an offscreen document and gives it tools to interact with any webpage: read content, take screenshots, click elements, type text, scroll, and run JavaScript. You get a small chat overlay on every page. Ask it about the page and it (usually) figures out which tools to call. It has a thinking mode that shows chain-of-thought reasoning as it works. It's a 2B model in a browser. It works for simple page questions and running JavaScript, but multi-step tool chains are unreliable and it sometimes ignores its tools…

I often create presentations where elements need to move (animate) from one slide to the next. This is great for explaining algorithms, workflows, or anything that benefits from dynamic visuals. I used to rely on Figma prototypes with smart animations for this, but I wanted a way to do it in Excalidraw—maybe even more conveniently. So I made an Excalidraw fork which helps you present "frames" and interpolates animations between them. Video demo (detecting cycles in a graph): https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/62033fca-03ca-489... Instructions, tips, and…

In the past I've used declarative diagram generation tools like Mermaid.js a lot for quickly drawing up things but for presentations or deliverables I find that I have to then move the generated diagrams over to a tool like Lucidchart which allows full control of the organization and customization. Therefore I am now working on this to combine the benefits of both into just one tool which can do both functions. The project is certainly in the early stages but if you find yourself making architecture diagrams I'd love to hear your thoughts on the idea or even a Github issue for a feature…

Inscribed.app, a slide-based tool for creating stop motions animation and slides. I've been writing a lot of tech content lately and needed a way to create a stop motion to visualize ideas for my blog. I'm a big fan of Excalidraw and Apple Keynote, so this tool is an attempt to combine the UX of the two together. Sketch like Excalidraw with a slide making interface (with shortcuts) like Apple Keynote. Features: - keyboard shortcuts: copy/paste/del, up/down navigation - adjust document size - drag and drop images - google fonts integration - presentation mode - export as GIF,…

Hey HN, I'm a beginner at CAD so I built an app that does it for me ;) Describe a part and ChatToSTL writes the OpenSCAD code, shows a live render with size sliders, then exports the STL/3MF file. Because the output is parametric, it's easy to modify (unlike mesh models like Shap-E or DreamFusion). Try it (needs your own OpenAI key): https://huggingface.co/spaces/flowfulai/ChatToSTL How it works: Text prompt → o4-mini generates OpenSCAD code → live render + sliders → refine in chat → export. Examples & Code: * Walkthrough + real prints (bowl, hook, box, door…

StoryMotion, a hand-drawn motion graphics editor for educational content creators. --- 5 months ago, I launched Inscribed.app [1], a tool based on Excalidraw for making step-by-step explanation (like slides) that I can easily embed to explain concepts on my blog. [1] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43078555 as I later expanded into video, I decided to fork the project and create another tool which focus solely on making animation. --- Key features: - Keynote-liked interfaces with Excalidraw canvas - effects animation library - scene transition animation -- fun fact: you…

Pad.ws is an infinite canvas that runs Linux, you can draw, write, open terminals or vscode to your very own ubuntu workspace. This uses Excalidraw for the canvas part while Coder manages the dev environments. We have a Public hosted instance at https://pad.ws if you want to try it out Disclaimer: this project is still very early, your feedback helps us shape it, so please let us hear your ideas!
