This is still a WIP, but we wanted to give the community an idea about our approach, its benefits, and various use cases it unlocks. Hi! I am sharing this because it may be useful to others. I created a simple Docker image that lets you easily expose a web app running locally on your dev machine to the Internet, via a proxy server. It is a self hosted alternative to something like Ngrok, which is a paid service if you use custom domains. A small server is cheaper than Ngrok (I use Hetzner Cloud and the cheapest server costs me 3€ per month). I’ve been building Canine for about 2 years now, and have slowly grown it to about ~1000 developers using it for deploying all sorts of apps / projects / etc. Amazingly, the whole thing is still able to run on a single 48GB Hetzner VPS. Think of it basically like Coolify, for Kubernetes. Hi HN! I've been hacking on this side project for the last month or two with the goal of making it dead simple to use cloud GPUs. I ran into this problem personally during the phd, and built my own tooling around it. I always thought it'd be fun to try to turn that tooling into a more general product... and bitbop.io is the result! Hey HN, Rove is a deployment tool that I've been working on for a short while. I was motivated to create this after building a CD SaaS for AWS, and becoming disillusioned with the unnecessary complexity and costs associated with running containers in proprietary "cloud" runtimes. Rove is very different from that. It is a single binary, does not communicate with an external service, and deployments run in a single command. I've been a big fan of fly.io with it’s devx, but cold starts and pricing have been a consistent problem. Even for side projects it's painful if they take 30s to load, it just kills the whole experience. With coding agents becoming good, there were a lot more things I started building, and I just wanted to run all of those things! GCI was built to solve this.
