24 alternatives to Pulp – Zero-allocation C11 telemetry engine (28M logs/SEC to disk)
High-throughput C11 telemetry engine for Windows x64. Combines 3-6× lossless on-the-fly compression to slash SIEM costs with cyber resilience: zero-allocation hot paths and bounded memory guarantee zero OOM crashes under log storms or DDoS attacks paired with a corruption-resilient file format. superlog▲497Hey HN, we’re Nico and Arseniy, co-founders of Superlog (https://superlog.sh). We're building a self-installing, self healing observability tool meant not to be opened. It has a wizard that daily sets up proper logging and an agent that investigates errors and opens PRs. Super short demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFhU9Mk247M. In our earlier startups, we tried Sentry, Datadog, Grafana, Dash0, and nothing was good enough. Proper telemetry and alerting still requires a ton of manual setup. We struggled with adding good logs, so debugging was tough, especially as…

Over the past few months, we've been building Prism; a fast, developer-first observability UI that's deeply integrated with our open-source database, Parseable. Prism is designed for engineers who debug distributed systems, sometimes at odd hours, and need answers right now, without having to deal with five different tools. Backstory: We spoke to dozens of observability practitioners in large enterprises. Across the board, we heard two things: (1)The RoI on observability tools is hard to justify. (2)OSS leads to tool sprawl, metrics in Grafana, logs in ELK, traces… somewhere. We wanted a…

Hello, Some time ago I did a data logger for fun, just to check if I could beat the performance of an old C++ project of mine (mini-async-log) and to avoid letting my multithreading-C skills rust when on a non-programming gig (using Yocto/OE, very little programming). This project is a BSD licensed, producer-wait-free (when using thread-local storage) generic message logger with high performance, decent test coverage, and type-safe C strings (requires C11 or C++ compiler). It was a shame to let this project to die unknown, as I think that it has potential to be used on some niches as…

Dear HN community! Looking forward to hearing your feedback on ACE (assured confidential execution), technology that implements VM-based trusted execution environment (TEE) for embedded RISC-V systems with focus on a formally verified and auditable firmware. We target high-assurance systems that can benefit from compartmentalization and hardware-backed isolation. The key ingredient called security monitor (firmware) is implemented in Rust. The formal specification is defined as annotations directly in code and gets translated to Coq using RefinedRust automation. ACE design is now part of the…

Facebook's Katran looked too scary (and I don't do C++), so I thought I would investigate using XDP/eBPF to redirect packets at high speed and Go to do the control plane work of health-checking backed servers and managing configuration. With luck the resulting binary should be easy to deploy by non-developers. It's still not mature, but seems to work. Code was written in a very exploratory manner, and I'm not a developer so it is quite shocking at the moment, but I aim to improve it. It is intended to be horizontally scalable with ECMP and has been tested on service providing…

Most ZK proving systems are optimized for server-grade hardware with massive RAM. When scaling to industrial-sized traces (2^20+ rows), they often hit a "Memory Wall" where allocation and data movement become a larger bottleneck than the actual computation. I have been developing Hekate, a ZK engine written in Rust that utilizes a Zero-Copy streaming model and a hybrid tiled evaluator. To test its limits, I ran a head-to-head benchmark against Binius64 on an Apple M3 Max laptop using Keccak-256. The results highlight a significant architectural divergence: At 2^15 rows: Binius64 is faster…

Usually, I’m a researcher working on areas like RL for coding agents – but one day I became annoyed by our slow VM startup times. So I took the plunge into systems engineering and built the first version of our VM hypervisor called otterlink. It now powers both our research & all of Devin production workloads. Compared to EC2, otterlink was able to bring down VM startup times by about 10x. The real pain point, however, were EC2’s long snapshot times. We want a lot of flexibility (e.g. forking, rollback and suspending VMs) that all require taking disk snapshots. On EC2 taking disk snapshots…
