It's a web app that uses AI to turn any book into a playable text adventure. Your favorite book, but your choices, hence your story. You can even "remix" the genre like playing Dune as a noir detective story. Note: Work in progress. Suggestions are welcome.

Hi I've created a text-based RPG game in which you can experience different adventures and play interesting characters while the AI acts as a real time DM/story teller. There are multiple ways to interact with AI: 1) Input free will move 2) Input default move (affects resources) 3) Post a question to DM Also one more cool feature is that you can create your own adventure via simple form. Add scenes, add characters and make it public so other players are able to test it. I also plan to have 'competetive' side where players will pay some small fee to creators in crypto depending on…

Hi HN! I'd love your feedback for this AI storytelling game. Remember when you used to read choose-your-own adventure books as a kid? We're trying to re-create that. The site lets you create adventures by seeding them with parameters that end up feeding LLMs: title, genre, writing style, etc. Once you've done that, you can play your book like a game: with custom chapters, illustrations, voice narration, choices, and dice rolls. We’re really into the idea of merging the open-ended generative AI with goal-directed story arcs that the game author can control. Everything is open source (links…

Dear Hacker News, I'm kindly asking for your participation in the open beta for my AI-managed mini-games website. Thank you in advance! For a limited time window, I'm setting the all-free feature flag to true. I hope you have a lot of fun exploring the AI's sense for games! Here and there, I tweaked it to help with visual consistency. I would be deeply grateful if you opted into analytics. $2,300 in API tokens... Cheers!

Hi HN, I'm Kai Wang, one of the creators of Yuanzai World. We built a simulation engine (currently on iOS & Android) that allows the community to create and share text adventures populated by multiple LLM-based agents. Unlike standard chatbots, our focus is on community co-creation—users define the worldviews, and our agents (with persistent memory and social relationships) bring them to life. The cool part: We implemented a system we call "World-Line Divergence" (inspired by visual novels like Steins;Gate). Usually, AI RPGs feel random or infinite loop. We built a state machine that tracks…

I’m experimenting with modeling tabletop RPG adventures as explicit narrative state rather than linear scripts. Everdice is a small web app that tracks conditional scenes and choice-driven state transitions to preserve continuity across long or asynchronous campaigns. The core contribution is explicit narrative state and causality, not automation. The real heavy lifting is happening in the DM Toolkit/Run Sessions area, and integrates CAML (Canonical Adventure Modeling Language) that I developed to transport narratives among any number of platforms. I also built the npm CAML-lint to…

AI usually does a terrible job acting as engaging NPCs in games. A few months back, I started trying to tackle this problem, initially with prompts and eventually with models fine-tuned on character interactions. I created this website as a testbed for the concept, and I open-sourced a fine-tuned model for those interested in experimenting with this themselves [1]. During the instruct tuning phase of training, LLMs learn to act as assistants. And they need to stop acting as assistants to produce engaging interactions. In Spellbound, telling NPCs they are AI will generally cause them to be…

I recently embarked on a creative experiment where I used ChatGPT to craft an elaborate steampunk story. Inspired by the rich narrative and intricate details, I decided to transform various parts of the story into demo tables, complete with text and images using https://tabulator.ai/. The goal was to explore how AI can aid in the creative process and provide indie game developers and storytellers with some ideas quickly.

Hi everyone! Want to share something I'm working on. Here is the brief description: From a single text prompt, craft dynamic worlds (both fictional and real-life, of any kind) filled with interacting NPCs pursuing goals, and control (human-in-the-loop) their behaviour and world state in real-time. Text-to-image to visualise every single step of change in the world's and NPC's state. My main goal was to check if it's possible to use LLMs (GPT-4 currently) to make characters interact with each other but in the end, it ended up with a neat little app where users can interfere with NPC's (and…

Hey all, I started watching the show Mythic Quest last month and they had an episode where the dev created a feature called Dinner Party for their game and for some reason I got the idea to make this website. AI Dinner Party is a place where you can browse or create your own DP where you choose AI models from different providers to talk about a topic of your choice. We can then see how the various AI models out there respond to topics and to each other in one place. The process: 1. You choose the topic, rounds, meal, AIs, and temperatures. 2. The selected AI host introduces the topic. 3.…
