When Reddit killed 3rd party apps, I uploaded a web viewer I have been using for myself to access Reddit (without 99 popups) to Github pages for everyone to use. I posted about it on Lemmy and it shot to the front page. Since then I have made multiple updates to RDX including themes, infinite scrolling, compact mode, bookmarks, import/export subs, faster GIF loading etc. If you do find this useful please add it to home screen for n app-like experience. Reddit's API is effectively dead for archival. Third-party apps are gone. Reddit has threatened to cut off access to the Pushshift dataset multiple times. I’ve been messing around with Bluesky for a while, and one thing I really missed was a proper way to browse discussions in a structured, Reddit-like way specially myself being daily reddit user. Hey everyone! I've built an open-source Android app that allows you to browse Reddit without using their API. It is built on the library I've published here earlier. Basically, the app uses JSON feeds of Reddit to replicate various endpoints. What this means is that you can browse Reddit without an account and get posts, comments, images, videos and nsfw contents without having to deal with ads etc. In it's current state it has just the basic functionality and I am planning to add more features soon. I got fed up with the news reader apps out there so I decided to make my own. Its a simple concept where it tracks all your favorite news sources for new posts and the social shares it received. Then it ranks it HN/Reddit style using social shares as upvotes. It's not meant to be alternative to HN, just a focused way to track your favorite sources. I'm a solo dev. A few years ago, I got addicted to Reddit. Spent months in that loop. Being a programmer, I thought I'd be clever. Redirected Reddit's domain to nowhere in my DNS file. Worked great until I'd just... open the file and undo it 20 minutes later. So I made it irreversible. Locked the DNS file so it can't be edited unless I boot my Mac in safe mode. And if I do that, there's a script that instantly locks it again. Haven't used Reddit since last year. Problem solved, right? Wrong. I just replaced Reddit with Twitch and YouTube.
