Products that do what RSS feed of a user's HN comments does
Sylvain at Algolia was kind enough to accept a small pull request for HN search, which means you can now add things like http://hn.algolia.com/userfeed/pg to your RSS reader, to get the most recent comments from that user. Each feed item currently includes just the text of the comment, but it should be easy to add some extra info, like the article title and parent URL. I'll take a look at the weekend unless someone beats me to it :)

HN is great for the links people share, but a big part of the value I get comes from reading the discussion around them. I realized I was always opening the article in one tab and the comments in another, constantly switching back and forth. There's lots of improvements I'd like to make but thought I should get some feedback first to see if anyone's interested in it. The main page just shows the most recent feed items (currently from only the 3 feeds I've added myself), but the idea is that it'll show the most popular items aggregated from all users. Hello community. Some time ago I was trying to create a project for my students using Hacker News data. As you might know, HN offers an official API [0], but it's based on Firebase and I felt it's main usage is to build clients, rather than consult data. Checking on some old material to provide some cross-referencing[1] I got this message: We've temporarily limited requests for old items. I've always taken it for granted that HN contained useful information that I'd be able to retrieve whenever I found the need, but this has brought me up short. It it always bugged me when I read or share an article, the discussion lives separately from the article. I imagined being able to add Google-Docs or Notion style comments on any website. We save a snapshot of the website and allow adding discussions that live side-by-side and directly reference parts of the article. Last week I showed prldr.com, a small project I created during my weekends. The immediate thing I learned from the comments was that prldr had to be a RSS reader, which I already had in mind. So after another couple of days programming prldr.com is now a visual rss reader. HN has been a destination on the Web for me recently, but I've had trouble really _getting into_ it. I've always wanted to follow podcast guests across shows, not subscribe to entire podcasts. Most of the time the podcasts host guests which I don't really care about. When a guest you follow appears on a random podcast, they will appear as a new entry in the rss-feed for that particular guest. Hopefully some here will find that useful :D

Twitter is often my source of Hacker News, but I had a problem of getting just the news without HN comments, which many times are even better than news itself, so I came up with an idea to have news and comments under the same URL.
