There's lots of improvements I'd like to make but thought I should get some feedback first to see if anyone's interested in it. The main page just shows the most recent feed items (currently from only the 3 feeds I've added myself), but the idea is that it'll show the most popular items aggregated from all users. It also provides TLDR summaries for each item, based on word frequency. http://bayfig.com EDIT: Typo

Partially inspired by recent discussions on HN and other places. I've made a single-focus site to introduce your friends/colleagues/neighbours/family to RSS and web feeds. https://www.youneedfeeds.com/ The site is meant to give the elevator pitch for feeds, show a newbie what feeds are and how to use them, set them up with a reader, and give them some nice starter content if they want it. So much tastemaking and newsmaking power is concentrated in the hands of Facebook/Reddit/Twitter, but I'm convinced it's because much of the general populace doesn't…

I got fed up with the news reader apps out there so I decided to make my own. Its a simple concept where it tracks all your favorite news sources for new posts and the social shares it received. Then it ranks it HN/Reddit style using social shares as upvotes. It's not meant to be alternative to HN, just a focused way to track your favorite sources. Please try it out and let me know what do you think, http://telescope.surf/ Note: you can do 'Add to Homescreen' on mobile to make it as an app. Please leave a feedback or any feature wishlist you may have. Thanks!

Hi all, since there are lots of discussions happening about news consumption, I would like to show you a project that I am working on - Feedpresso. https://www.feedpresso.com/ It focuses on content for techies and entrepreneurs so you can expect to get some interesting stuff right away. However, it is not a regular RSS reader - it heavily relies on algos to find exciting stories based on your reading history, from your sources. Also, it includes some abstractions over sources to make using RSS more natural. Give it a try. If there is an interest, I would gladly share some…

Last week I showed prldr.com, a small project I created during my weekends. The immediate thing I learned from the comments was that prldr had to be a RSS reader, which I already had in mind. So after another couple of days programming prldr.com is now a visual rss reader. You read the news by just opening the links from the RSS feeds, simple as that. features for now: management of feeds, import OPML file, keyboard navigation, automatic feed fetching. ps: I disabled preloading of tabs, because some browsers tend to crash when opening 30 iframes :P. Have to implement some stack mechanism to…

Sometimes it's hard to keep up with multiple RSS feeds, and would be great to get some help filtering out the least relevant part of it. RSS filter is a side project that I created for myself to act as an RSS feed articles recommendation system, but self-hosted. It has a Python backend that is able to “proxy" your existing RSS feeds and after learning a bit about your interests, starts recommending similar articles and filtering out the rest. While, of course, always including some random articles for discovery. It uses LLM embeddings and machine learning to recommend similar articles.…
