I've worked with many indie game studios (even been a C-level in one). I've seen many of them spending days searching for streamers adapted to their game niche. There are thousands of great and creative streamers but most developers ended up only sending Steam Keys to the big names. It often was a waste of time because they're swamped, charge high fees, and their broad audience is not even the studio's ideal players. On the other hand, you have thousands of passionate micro-streamers that: - have hyper-engaged niche communities (higher conversion!). - mostly promote for free because they are…

Hey HN, I re-launched an old site I remembered back in the day that someone made called twitchroulette.net with a lot of new features and stats and I would love for people to check it out. The idea is you can easily browse the less browsed parts of twitch and find cool and new streamers to say hi to, and maybe make some new friends. I also added some real time stats and breakdowns per channel and I think some of the things they show are pretty interesting. Check it out!

It took me 20 months to develop it in my spare time. I used Unity game engine, I did not have any game dev experience before. It was more complex that I thought at the begining, I spent lots of time on promotion, marketing, founding company, learning about the legal aspects of different parts, for example music. Some parts were easier than I expected. Unity makes it very easy to build for all three operating systems (Win, MacOs, Linux), I am not sure why more game devs are not using this possibility. I also like working on Steam as distribution system. It is not exactly easy for a newcomer,…

So, me (dev) and my friend (designer) have been building a website/mobile app to help users manage their game library (think MyAnimeList, but games) for a little over a year. We launched with a very basic set of features, and have been slowing expanding since then. All the code is open source, and most of the things we implemented were direct feedback from users (e.g. being able to import games from Steam/PSN, and the Posts feature). We don't show ads or have any kind of subscription. This is just a hobby project. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, as honestly the hardest…

Hi HN! I’ve been building a 2D game using a custom engine I wrote from scratch – no Unity, no frameworks. It’s fully self-funded and will be released commercially on Steam. Engine source code (MIT): http://github.com/willtobyte/carimbo I’d love feedback on the gameplay, visuals, performance, or anything else. Thanks!

I have been running some experiments on twitch.tv along the lines of driving traffic to websites via donations. Many streamers will read a message attached to a donation of a certain amount of money on stream in front of all their viewers. Sometimes they will visit a url if that happens to be in the content of the message. On rare occasions they will even share the url with the rest of the stream. I would consider my most recent experiment a success. I follow and watch a few streamers on twitch that play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Three of the streamers I watch recently created a…

DungeonLoot▲20Hi HN, I’ve been working on DungeonLoot a passion project that’s not the usual SaaS or AI tool. The goal is simple: bring more loot to gamers, and help game developers get discovered in the process. Not the trendiest idea, but sometimes we just do what we like. Link: https://www.dungeonloot.com/ Let me know what you think.

Hi HN! I've built a web that takes your Steam game library and generates a 3D city from it. Games become buildings, playtime determines height. So your most-played game is a massive tower and that game you impulse-bought during a sale and never touched is basically a parking garage. There's also a world view where every player's library is a building on a shared map. About 7k people on it right now, you can fly around the whole thing. You can try this on https://thesteamcity.com Built with Next.js, React Three Fiber, and Supabase. Works on mobile too. Hope you like it!

Hey HN, I'm Aydin, a 13-year-old developer and indie maker looking to improve the world with my small startups. Recently, I built 2 micro SaaS projects. I spent days & weeks coding features, always telling myself that after coding one more feature I was for sure to get traction. This never happened. The reason: I never launched. With IndieReq, you can launch your startup fast and get real user feedback so you know exactly what features to ship and improve. All you have to do is sign up for free, create a feedback board, and share the public link with your users. It's that easy! If you've…
