I built a SQLite VFS in Rust that serves cold queries directly from S3 with sub-second performance, and often much faster. It’s called turbolite. It is experimental, buggy, and may corrupt data. I would not trust it with anything important yet. I wanted to explore whether object storage has gotten fast enough to support embedded databases over cloud storage. Filesystems reward tiny random reads and in-place mutation. S3 rewards fewer requests, bigger transfers, immutable objects, and aggressively parallel operations where bandwidth is often the real constraint. This was explicitly inspired…

Running DeepSeek V3 (685B) requires 8×H100 GPUs which is about $14k/month. Most developers only need 15-25 tok/s. sllm lets you join a cohort of developers sharing a dedicated node. You reserve a spot with your card, and nobody is charged until the cohort fills. Prices start at $5/mo for smaller models. The LLMs are completely private (we don't log any traffic). The API is OpenAI-compatible (we run vLLM), so you just swap the base URL. Currently offering a few models.

Hi HN, not sure if anyone would be interested, but just wanted to share that I've been maintaining my small tool called 'lowfat' that helps me filters some of my verbose CLI output. It's a single binary, works as an agent hook or a shell wrapper. It has a plugin system to customize filters per command. The idea is pretty simple: agents don't need the full kubectl get -o yaml or any 10k-line dump to make decisions. So that lowfat sits in between, strips the noise, and passes through what matters. Here's my real report after 2 months of personal use: lowfat history --all lowfat plugin…

Hey HN. I'm Fabien, principal engineer, 25 years shipping production systems (Ruby, Swift, now Rust). I built Moltis because I wanted an AI assistant I could run myself, trust end to end, and make extensible in the Rust way using traits and the type system. It shares some ideas with OpenClaw (same memory approach, Pi-inspired self-extension) but is Rust-native from the ground up. The agent can create its own skills at runtime. Moltis is one Rust binary, 150k lines, ~60MB, web UI included. No Node, no Python, no runtime deps. Multi-provider LLM routing (OpenAI, local GGUF/MLX, Hugging…
