For the past few months, I've been working on a website that answers two different questions: - Where in my city have the best travel times to all the things and people I care about? - Given a listing, how far is it from all the things and people I care about? Personally this was fueled by my own frustrations when I was apartment hunting in NYC. I was frustrating to have to juggle so many Google Maps tabs when I was evaluating a listing, and it was also annoying to not have full confidence that I was even searching in the right places. I wanted to be close to work, a Trader Joe's, and a…

I was a bit concerned when Google was sending comms about decommissioning Timeline on web. Then they did a mobile migration, and lost a bunch of user info. Started this app so I can always have a copy of my timeline on my icloud + server + device (3,2,1 rule) Hope y'all are able to find some value in it as well! BTW here is all the streets I've walked in NYC in the past 10 years: https://share.takeallroads.com/s/0Hq7jYxhS698Xyip-r4Prg (video version: https://imgur.com/a/e8p9aXt)

I just redesigned an old (1 year) project and would appreciate any feedback. The site has no real purpose other than allowing you to explore the large amount of imagery gathered by Google. You can make it less random by choosing a country, or indeed any geographical area (cities etc.) http://www.mapcrunch.com Thanks

I previously made a web version of The Weekendest, but when I was laid off from my last job, I decided to take the free time I had to pick up Swift UI, and made a native iOS version of it. The main draw of the app is that the map is dynamically generated based on the current subway routing, so when you open the app on weekends or overnight, you'll see lines correspond to where the trains are actually running, which is a very unique NYC problem. Let me know what you think!

StreetComplete is an OpenStreetMap[0] editor directed at people who want to contribute and want to do this using their smartphone, without learning how to edit things[1]. It is available as an Android application. It is intended to be used as one walks, with quests appearing as markers on the map. Selecting a marker allows one to answer a simple question. The answer will be added to the OpenStreetMap database, with app handling selecting objects for editing, transforming answer into OSM tags and making edits. OpenStreetMap account is needed to apply edits, but it is possible to start without…

We built Maptoolkit.org - a free, production-grade vector maps service built on OpenStreetMap and MapLibre. Map rendering and tile hosting have historically been either expensive (Google, Mapbox) or complex to maintain yourself. (Plus: Their maps are car-focused.) Our maps feature max data zoom 15, global hill-shading, 3D terrain, contour lines, water depths, and specialized styles (like Hiking, Cycling, Winter). No sign up or API keys required. You can use it like this: ``` const map = new maplibregl.Map({ container: 'map', style: 'https://styles.maptoolkit.org/summer.json',…
