24 alternatives to SubSparks
Hey HN, I'm Victor, a solo dev, and I'm excited to share a project I've been passionately working on: SubSparks (https://www.subsparks.com). The Problem I Was Trying to Solve: Like many here, I love the idea of building MicroSaaS products. The biggest hurdle for me has always been the initial step: finding a genuinely validated problem to solve. Hours spent brainstorming, browsing forums, and still feeling like I was shooting in the dark. I noticed Reddit is a goldmine of people discussing their frustrations and needs, but manually sifting through it for real opportunities is…

Everything that would be here is in the README. I hope this gets big, it has tons of potential.

TLDR: I made a community where you can find builders or product owners to collab on sideprojects together with <3 A year ago i completed my first sideproject, a digital course on how to "cold email a chief information security officer". I thought and think its a great course, but of course I fell into all the traps (didnt verify a need, i thought id make it and everyone would buy automatically), i tested google ads but hated nerding on that, so i decided to find a marketing person to partner up with! But i knew no one! That got me thinking how many people with relevant knowledge that isnt…

I wanted to find a product idea to build. "Build things people want," right? So I thought, why not literally find people saying what they want? I wrote a script to collect thousands of Reddit posts where people are looking for a solution or complaining about a problem. Then I used GPT to filter out the noise and score each one based on how viable the idea seemed. Threw together a simple search interface so anyone can explore them. I was planning to build a more advanced paid version of this, but figured I'd share the raw version first to see if it's actually useful to anyone.

FoundersWall▲35I used to be just a blogger. Now I build internet products, still without code, using AI, design, and taste. I was building in public on X for last 2 months. And honestly, I got tired of how it became performative and started to feel fake. I shipped 2 products. Both failed to get any real traction. I kept sneaking into popular builders’ profiles, hoping to learn how they do it. One thing I kept seeing everywhere, product launch directories. I thought here is the scope. So I started building one. Same UI like the rest. Nothing special. Suddenly one day when it was half built, I realized…

I've been tired with the current options on the market for awhile and decided to do something about it after the running into the disaster that is MLOps at my last two startups and having to manage a multiple operation platforms both for my fellow ML engineers, the general application CI/CD and orchestration layers while simultaneously building the application itself. Its still extremely early for the product but its functioning and is well on its way. I'd love feedback on the approach and peoples thoughts on the problem space. Personally my irritations have been in the poor tooling,…

Disclaimer it is a heavily AI assisted project. The goal was not to be the most performative but the kind that's easier to learn from. I wanted to share this in case there are people who had the same idea or wanted to see something like this.

Imagine you have to make a little change in all your microservices, like changing a line in Dockerfile, but you have 50 microservices, ouch right! The PRs, pipelines, reviews... I have created a dashboard with a chatbot where you can simply ask "Update all repositories with alpine base image version X to Y", and then click next a bunch of time and see a list of PRs with their pipeline status. Hi friends I'm Daniel, the creator of Infra as AI. I was laid off from my SRE role a couple of months ago, and decided to build something that could always help me at work. My job was to keep the lights…

Howdy friends. I've been a zero to one product manager for 12 plus years and along the way I kept borrowing pieces from different discovery frameworks until I had a methodology of my own, one that actually raises the odds of an idea succeeding. This does not replace user interviews obviously, but it leads you in the right direction. Looking forward for your feedback

Hi there, I've created this side project to make it easier to find interesting repositories using AI. There's still a lot of work to be done to improve it, so any suggestions for enhancements would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Excited to share something I've been building recently called CandySearch. I made it to solve a personal pain with a SaaS product I built, which was that we were always monitoring Reddit and Twitter to see if anyone had mentioned keywords indicating they were looking for us. Before, we had to go manually respond to posts, often missing good mention opportunities. Would love for HN folks to try it and let me know what you think!

I built a tool to solve a problem I kept running into: I was making product decisions based on guessing instead of real users. I kept building stuff nobody wanted as I was usually wrong. So, I built HolyShift: AI agents that validate product ideas by talking to real people on Reddit, HN, X, and LinkedIn … then generate a detailed GTM and “Should we build this?” report. No synthetic data (ChatGPT). No predictions. Only real conversations from real people. What it does • Posts platform-native questions (where allowed) • Collects real reactions, objections, pricing signals • Clusters feedback…

I got the idea of [mindmap.so](http://mindmap.so/) out of my own frustration of managing my personal notes in Notion and Miro in parallel. I have built it 3 months back on top of excalidraw, posted it in Reddit a couple of times, and never looked back (was using it only for personal use). Little did I know that the small and nimble tool that I created has crossed 2000+ users (was so surprised when I saw the dashboard last week). It was all organic and word of mouth . Having 2000+ users trusting a product is no easy feat. That’s when I thought may be I should put some more…

Hi there Hacker News, I've started a side project http://datasourcehub.com which aims to be a platform for data scientists. The project is still in the idea phase so the UI/UX and functionality are all subject to change. Feel free to play around, below is a guest login, and make sure files are content type of 'text/csv'. All data is subject to deletion, it's just a sandbox right now! By reaching out to the Hacker News community I hope to reach expert data scientists and get their feedback. Below are some questions I'd like to answer and some proposed directions that this…

Still pretty rough ... Emphasizes: 1) Simple, no-frill dashboard for managing posts (files). 2) Lightweight markdown editor 3) Relationships: taxonomy (file tagging) and fast linking (content to other posts) Some of the important key bindings I have are ctrl+c for code, ctrl-L for linking text to other posts. Right now this is baked in but I'd want to allow users to customize it. It's still pretty beta but let me know what ya'll think! Here's the github page if you want to help out: https://github.com/keera/matrix

Hi there, So a buddy a couple of days ago came up with the idea for a new SaaS product regarding gpt and image generation. We did a quick MVP that barely works, it breaks almost 50% of the time but we still wanted to validate the idea before going all in. We have almost 1k followers on Twitter together. Did a quick post describing the idea with a stripe link in the comments with a 5$ value, no landing page, and no shipped product. In exchange, the buyers become beta users. Around 30 mins later we got our first sale next 30 mins another 5$ and so on. Do we consider the idea validated? The…

After nearly a year of development, I've launched Problem Spotter - a tool that helps you discover relevant Reddit communities and track their growth patterns. Key features: - Search across subreddits by topic/keyword - Monthly subscriber growth tracking and trends - Audience overlap analysis Built this because I was manually hunting through Reddit for market research and community validation. The existing tools either didn't have good search or lacked growth data. Would love feedback from the HN community - especially if you use Reddit for research or community building. Link:…

Ryva▲5Hey HN, I built Ryva because I kept seeing the same problem across dev teams. The actual state of the project lives across commits, PR discussions, and Slack threads. Nobody pulls it together. So teams hold a daily standup to reconstruct it verbally instead. Ryva connects to GitHub and Slack, reads those signals, and generates a written project state showing what changed, what decisions were made, what decisions are still missing, and what needs attention next. The goal is not to summarize activity. It is to replace the reconstruction meeting with something that already exists before the…

Hey there HN ! I'm so excited to show you the platform I built! It's a product review website that's all about community and video reviews. I wanted to create a space where people could share their personal experiences and opinions on products, so others could make informed decisions based on real-life experiences. I noticed that there were a lot of fake reviews on other platforms, and I knew that people wanted a more reliable and trustworthy source for product reviews. That's why I decided to create a website that would prioritize genuine, honest curated reviews from real people. Our…

Hey HN, Like many of you, I'm tired of public AI leaderboards that mostly recycle the same saturated/overfitted benchmarks (MMLU, HumanEval, etc.) and often miss fast/cheap variants or real daily pain points. A couple days ago I launched AIBenchy — a small, opinionated leaderboard running my own custom tests focused on end-user/dev scenarios that actually trip up models today. Current tests cover categories like: - Anti-AI Tricks (classic gotchas like "count the Rs in strawberry", logic traps) - Instruction following & consistency - Data parsing/extraction -…
