Hi HN, I needed a distraction from the new and scary thing I was working on this weekend, so I grabbed HN's stylesheet, extracted CSS variables for every colour it defined, then re-applied them back onto HN using its own selectors (plus some extras for bits of HN which are styled inline, and some separation between header and content styling), allowing it to be themed with variables. Needed a syntax-highlighting theme for displaying code samples on our company blog, but found my favourite editor themes did not have WCAG-conformant color contrast. And the accessibility-focused themes I found didn't fit well with our site aesthetic. I'm sure there are such themes out there, but for our use I built these Measured Light & Dark schemes. Pleased with the results, so have open-sourced them and made them available to the base16 ecosystem. Happy theming!

I worked on many apps where each customer needs their own branded theme. The problem is that you can't just shift hue and call it a day. Yellow at 50% lightness looks completely different from blue at 50%. That's why I built this library to generate perceptually uniform themes. Sometimes UI can be distracting and I’ve found that I’m most focused when able to focus completely on the content on a page. I built HN Lite as a chrome extension to hide all information that isn’t vital to see. It removes excess navigation, usernames, saving/reporting features, upvotes, voting tools, account access, and styling. Essentially it’s a lurker’s tool. Almost entirely built around content consumption and exploration. Although it desperately needs dark mode.
