Products that do what I built a theme engine for white-label apps using OKLCH color science does

I worked on many apps where each customer needs their own branded theme. The problem is that you can't just shift hue and call it a day. Yellow at 50% lightness looks completely different from blue at 50%. That's why I built this library to generate perceptually uniform themes. Zero dependencies, runs at runtime, outputs CSS vars, Tailwind tokens, SCSS, or JSON. Ships with presets for shadcn/ui and MUI. try it out quickly: npx hextimate "#006677"

I've been using a version of this internally for a few months but decided to polish it a little to finally deploy it. It's a color system generator that creates accessible, perceptually uniform color palettes using the OKLCH space. It takes one seed (primary) color, generates relative key colors from multiple color harmony schemes (analogous, complementary, etc) that are then used to create 26-step color ramps each. Shades from the ramps are then used to generate semantic color roles, or can be used for creating custom palettes. All colors are gamut-mapped to the sRGB gamut with chroma…

A simple tool I made over the week to explore and learn about different colors. You can select any color with any opacity #000000-FFFFFFFF (~4.3 billion colors/variants), and you can view a dedicated page detailing the color's closest name, conversions to Hex, RGB, CMYK, etc., shades, tints, tones, harmonies, opacities, and WCAG contrast compliance.

Hi HN, I needed a distraction from the new and scary thing I was working on this weekend, so I grabbed HN's stylesheet, extracted CSS variables for every colour it defined, then re-applied them back onto HN using its own selectors (plus some extras for bits of HN which are styled inline, and some separation between header and content styling), allowing it to be themed with variables. After using them to implement a dark mode (and a pure black variant for OLED), plugging everything into my existing HN browser extension which already lets you apply custom CSS, and making it handle theme…
