Acti▲76Hi HN, I made Acti, an iOS app that automatically records the places you visit and builds a timeline of your life. It’s totally private, no accounts, no cloud, everything stays local on your device. The motivation: I wanted something like Google Maps Timeline, but without data collection or ads. Acti just runs in the background, asks you to name new places once, and then remembers them forever. You can also add photos, comments, and ratings. What I’m struggling with: because there are no registrations, I don’t really know how to connect with users, gather feedback, or even measure if people…

Hi HN! I've been building Dayflow, a macOS app that automatically tracks what you're actually working on (not just which apps you have open). Here's what it does: - It creates a semantic timeline of your day; - It does it by understanding the content on your screen (with local or cloud VLMs); - This allows you to see exactly where your time went without any manual logging. Traditional time trackers tell you "3 hours in Chrome" which is not very helpful. Dayflow actually understands if you're reading documentation, debugging code, or scrolling HN. Instead of "Chrome: 3 hours", you get…

I was a bit concerned when Google was sending comms about decommissioning Timeline on web. Then they did a mobile migration, and lost a bunch of user info. Started this app so I can always have a copy of my timeline on my icloud + server + device (3,2,1 rule) Hope y'all are able to find some value in it as well! Hey HN! I made TimeAnt because my dad needed a simple way to track his time at work and he didn’t like the other apps out there because they were too complicated or had way too many features. So, I built an app that just does the basics: track work hours, meetings, breaks, lunch and optionally lets you add notes - and that's it. It’s totally free, works both online and offline, and doesn’t require an account (but you can create one if you want). The goal was to keep it super simple and let you focus on tracking time without all the fluff. It also gave me a chance to learn Swift and build my…
