Products that do what Top Quant/Algotrading Githubs Automated does

With a seed project defining the audience, determines their most popular Githubs. Interesting results! [1] One journalist was surprised [2] on the Quant and Algotrading results. Github's Rest API [3] is actually quite complex - and has undocumented hurdles. E.g. when there's more than 40K stars the API caps it there - unless you use the GraphQL API... [4] There's a lot more meat on the Github bones. Stay tuned. [1] https://profitview.net/blog/open-source-trading-projects [2] https://www.efinancialcareers.com/news/2022/07/coding-langua... [3]…

Since everyone seems to be making a github application, I thought I'd share mine. It's an aggregated view of all of a given person's github projects, as well as easyish lookups for linkedin/stackoverflow/hackernews. It attempts to determine both productivity (how much code did this person write?) as well as impact (did anyone care?) I'd love any feedback, but go easy on the number of simultaneous searches as I'm trying to play nice by github's api limits. check it -- http://www.gitalytics.com

Hi HN, We are researchers from ETH Zurich interested in the real-world adoption and impact of Code Agents. To measure this, we built a dashboard, scraping all public PRs on GitHub, analyzing which are created by different code agents (Codex, Jules, Copilot, Devin, etc.), and measuring their merge rates, sliced by various repository and PR characteristics. https://insights.logicstar.ai Since mid-May, we've analyzed over 10 million PRs and already found some interesting trends: Usage is high, but shallow. Agents submit ~7% of all PRs overall, but only ~1–2% on popular repos. Most…

Over the past few weeks I've been working on a small application to view trending repos on GitHub. I built the PWA[1] with React, Next.js and GraphQL .. but what's interesting is the application is only using React server side, meaning the client side javascript is only a few lines code adding some event listeners and registering a service worker for offline capability. This helped me achieve a perfect google chrome performance audit I learned a ton working on it and would love to talk about it if anyone has any questions! Simon(sfarshid) and I spend a lot of time on GitHub. As data nerds we put together a quick tool to explore your repository’s data. How it works: - Data Loading: We use dlt to pull data (issues, PRs, commits, stars) from GitHub - Semantic Layer: Relta wraps the underlying dataset into a semantic layer so the LLM doesn’t hallucinate. - Text-to-SQL: A text-to-SQL agent transforms your plain-English question into a query using the semantic layer - Generative Charts: assistant-ui dynamically generates a chart based on the SQL query - Refinements: If the semantic layer can’t handle your question,…

My friends and I were complaining about having to decipher incomprehensible code one day and decided to pass the code through GPT to see if it could write easily understandable comments to help us out. It turns out that GPT can but it was still a hassle to generate comments for large files. So we decided to develop a basic web application that automatically integrates with your Github repository, generate comments, create a pull request and send you an email when it is all done. There is definitely a lot more that can be done but we wanted to gain feedback on whether this is a problem that…

I got tired of collecting open source projects in my chrome bookmarks so I decided to compile a curated list of: - Recently active projects on GitHub - Mostly dev tools (but also productivity, analytics) - Projects which are "Alternative to X software" My bookmarks are finally empty:D If you have a great open source tool you use, I'd be glad to hear your suggestions. Also, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I created a leaderboard showcasing the top 1000 GitHub repositories based on the number of stars. With GitHub hosting over 100 million public repositories, this leaderboard highlights the top 0.001% in terms of the number of stars. Stars might not be the perfect metric for adoption—metrics like the number of monthly downloads could be more accurate—but this list still represents some of the most popular and influential projects in the open-source community. You can check out the leaderboard here: https://githublb.vercel.app/

We've indexed 5M+ GitHub users and built a ranking system that goes beyond follower counts. The idea started from frustration: GitHub is terrible for discovery. You can't answer "who are the best Python developers in Berlin?" or "who identified transformer-based models before they blew up?" without scraping everything yourself. So we did. What we built: CodeRank score - a composite reputation signal across contributions, repository impact, and community influence Tastemaker score - did you star repos at 50 stars that now have 50,000? We track that Comparison Builder - allows users to build…

I’ve spent the last 2.5 months building a product that runs LLM-powered code reviews on my pull requests — and I just launched it. The tool is built specifically for solo developers. You install it on your repo, trigger a scan by creating a pull request, and it leaves structured review comments using OpenAI under the hood. Funnily enough, I used the dev version of this app to review its own pull requests while building it. It helped me spot bugs, simplify structure, and keep quality high — all with minimal need for another human in the loop. Things I want to try out in the next months : -…
