Discover events from your expat community

Hi, this is a project I have been working on for the last 1 month. :) The search engine is designed to make discovering events easier and faster with only one search input. To keep my budget down, only these cities are available for search at the moment: Barcelona, Berlin, Hamburg, Lisbon, London, Munich, NYC, Paris, SF, Singapore. (I’m happy to take on requests) The tech stack is Rails 8, Tailwind. What do you think?

Hi HN, My name is Kam. I'm the founder of Linen.dev. Linen communities is a Slack/Discord alternative that is Google-searchable and customer-support friendly. Today we are open-sourcing Linen and launching Linen communities. You can now create a community on Linen.dev without syncing it from Slack and Discord! I initially launched Linen as a tool to sync Slack and Discord conversations to a search engine-friendly website. As I talked to more community managers, I quickly realized that Slack and Discord communities don't scale well and that there needs to be a better tool, especially for…

Hello HN! We're a small team in Kyoto building a website called dédédé (https://dedede.de/en) that invites people to share the various positives, negatives, oddities, etc. they find in urban spaces. The project grew out of an earlier effort where we'd built an app that assisted participatory urbanism workshops run by local nonprofits. With the new platform, we're trying to build something similar but more casual and hopefully with broader appeal, that'll be fun to use even outside of formal workshop situations. We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hi, I'm Igor, developer who is originally from Ukraine. Now I need to integrate in the foreign country, so I made a service which helps me to practice languages in real-world conversations. I'm doing this by discussing tweets from my feed with AI.

One of my first projects after discovering the power of coding was to build an event aggregator in my city. The first version was very basic, built in python’s Tkinter. After moving to a bigger city where everything was new, the problem became a bit different. I didn’t know where all the venues were at, so I had this idea to put various events on the map. Since I was mostly interested in parties at that time we’ve also connected the events to Soundcloud API. That version didn’t live long. When I got older parties were not in my interest anymore. So when my companion showed me the vast amount…

It has been a while since I have shared my app, that I made to be able to practice my Danish while chatting with my grilfriend - I often used GPT to write as much as I can in Danish, and I replaced the words I didn't know with {Englis words in curly braces}. While this was great, it was rather annoying to type the prompt always, so I figured a GPT wrapper would work well here. Last time when I launched, it went viral! I was super happy (and grateful!) for all the feedback and excitement — but it also meant my tokens disappeared fast, and many people ended up trying an app that no longer…

One station to find per day, 2 or 3 gamemodes depending on the city (if your city is not live yet, or you can't find it in the selector, try https://dailymetro.live/cityname/mode/classic ) Like https://dailymetro.live/sf/mode/classic for San Francisco Got huge traction in France, so I thought maybe you'll like it here too :) Made with Claude code but still took at least 50-100h of dev/design/taking user feedbacks ahahah Hope you like it
