Hi! I'm Alan, and I built a website that turns images into flowing particle animations. This javascript / WebGL tool creates particle animations out of any image in real-time within the browser, with particles that dynamically respond to edge detection and flow fields. It uses Sobel edge detection, a Perlin noise flow field, and webGL / GLSL for better performance. The tool is completely free and open source (MIT license). Github repo: https://github.com/collidingScopes/particular-drift Let me know of any feedback or suggestions for improvement.

Hi! This is my little project introducing quasicrystals animations with some parameters. It uses a custom shader to allow higher resolution. Not all combinations look equally good. For example the "Spectrum" color palette IMO makes sense only for low values of "Tempo" and "Pattern Density". If you have VR googles, I recommend trying the WebXR version - it's really nice.

Hey HN, I recently built a small TypeScript utility called `hover-effects-ts` — it adds fun and experimental hover effects to images using the HTML canvas. You can apply effects like ASCII art, Lego blocks, glitch distortion, and pixelation on hover. The goal was to break away from boring `:hover` transitions and bring some delightful visual feedback to personal websites, landing pages, or error screens — while keeping it lightweight and performance-friendly. Why I built it: I found most image hovers visually bland, and wanted something weird but still dev-friendly. I used canvas to keep the…

Three.js recently introduced TSL (Three.js Shading Language), a way to write shaders in pure JavaScript/TypeScript that compiles to both GLSL and WGSL. I built this editor to provide a visual interface for the tsl ecosystem. It allows developers to prototype shaders for WebGPU/WebGL and see the results in real-time. This is a beta release and I'm looking for feedback.
