Hey HN! I’ve written a bunch of WebSocket servers over the years to do simple things like state synchronization, WebRTC signaling, and notifying a client when a backend job was run. I realized that if I had a simple way to create a private, temporary, mini-redis that the client could talk to directly, it would save a lot of time. So we created DriftDB. In addition to the open source server that you can run yourself, we also provide https://jamsocket.live where you can use an instance we host on Cloudflare’s edge (~13ms round trip latency from my home in NY). You may have seen my…

Hey HN, I’m Abhishek. I'm building Opslane, an open-source agent that identifies user-facing issues and investigates them. It only creates a PR if it can verify the fix. Demo: https://youtu.be/ccuOTYQMeYg Docs: https://docs.opslane.com At my last job at Robinhood, we used to do a quarterly bug bash. We would go through our Sentry backlog and try to fix as many of them as possible. We only fixed bugs we knew were reported by customers. We had hundreds of bugs, and Sentry’s default priority levels made no sense. After the bug bash, we would declare bankruptcy - select…

If you’ve ever wondered -- “How can I make sure every device, managed or not, is secure before granting access?” -- “Am I at risk for this CVE or zero day exploit?” -- “How do I know that the controls I configured via MDM are actually enforced?” Device360 gives you the ability to answer those for yourself. Built on Osquery, the product lets you run real-time or scheduled queries to assess security posture, get a report of vulnerabilities, and test access policies. You can even deploy the authenticator on unmanaged devices. Open to feedback!

Hey Hacker News! Last week we made the codebase for product 100% open source. This week we shipped a dashboard to manage connectors, as well as integrations with Google Drive, Zendesk, Notion, and Confluence. This means Sidekick is now the fastest way to sync data from these tools to a vector database. Why is this important? For developers building LLM apps, data integrations are often the least interesting and most time consuming part of the process. For those that don’t want to roll their own ETL, Sidekick is an opinionated tool that lets them get an API endpoint to run semantic searches…

We've been building things together for a long time. LEGO first, then software. Across every company and project since, one thing kept showing up: database access security was broken. Not always dramatically. Sometimes it was the budget. Sometimes months of convincing. Sometimes just a quiet burden nobody talked about. Support staff with access to every customer's financial data. Engineers who left but somehow still had credentials. A "temporary" password living in Confluence or floating around in Slack DMs. It's 2026 and this is still the default. Solutions cost time and money, usually…

Hey HN, I built an automated system that tracks malicious Chrome/Edge extensions daily. The database updates automatically by monitoring chrome-stats for removed extensions and scanning security blogs. Currently tracking 1000+ known malicious extensions with extension IDs, names, and dates. I'm working on detection tools (GUI + CLI) to scan locally installed extensions against this database, but wanted to share the raw data first since maintained threat intelligence lists like this are hard to find. The automation runs 24/7 and pushes updates to GitHub. Free to use for research,…

Hey HN, We're thrilled to introduce you to Edginary, our new groundbreaking startup set to change how developers access and scale their data globally. We've all felt the pain points of dealing with centralized data sources: performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and the dreaded revenue loss due to downtime. Edginary is here to tackle these issues head-on. Edginary is a serverless platform that moves your data close to your users in real-time so they can access it in ultra low-latency. By reducing the load on your servers and databases, we aim to not only improve performance and…

My team built this free open-source catalog that allows anyone to search through any data connector/source. There's a list of ETL providers for each so your analytics and BI projects can be as comprehensive as possible.
