My background project for the last two years has been re-implementing my 2004 C++ shoot'em up game in TypeScript + WebGL, and it's finally done (just in time for the 20th anniversary!) Play the game online: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/darklaga.html Technical article about the remake: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/remake.html I have tested Firefox, Chrome and Edge on desktop and mobile (no access to a device capable of running Safari). It's amazing how much difference 20 years makes: the hardware is so much more powerful, the web…

Hi HN, I built a small game in just 24 hours for a 64x64 pixel art lowrez game jam. The result is soko64, a tiny Sokoban game written in Dart. This project was primarily a first test for a new web game library I've been developing for Dart (Bullseye2D). I wanted to see how quickly I could build a complete, playable game with it. You can play soko64 directly in your browser: https://joemanaco.itch.io/soko64 The source code is on GitHub: https://github.com/JochenHeizmann/soko64 Happy to answer any questions! :)

Getting web3 data out of Ethereum nodes or node services is excruciatingly slow (at least days if not weeks). I had wanted a way to just download the blocks quickly since I started exploring the web3 space. Took me a bunch of trial and errors to get to a way where I can parse all the blocks since genesis within 12 hours. But, instead of moving on to the next thing, I put this service together over the last few days, so everyone can benefit.

I've been a React Native developer since 2018, and I've built a whole lot of products with it. I know how hard it is for newcomers (and pros) to build an app, get it approved and actually attract users. It's so easy to get bogged down in confusing documentation and 3rd party dependency fluff. The good news for you: I've read every different push notification service/auth provider/etc's documentation and made informed choices, so you don't have to! I've made HyperFast (https://hyperfa.st), a service which includes: - A boilerplate to get you up and running (hyper) fast -…
