aero.zip - E2EE resumable file transfer, not P2P, 100 GB, OPAQUE auth

What it does

The ultimate file transfer: 250 MB/s speeds, E2E encryption, and instant streaming. Auto-resumes on errors and browser-based. Free for transfers up to 2 GB.

If you use WeTransfer, SwissTransfer or similar to send client data, that unencrypted file lives on their server. You are effectively sharing your client's trade secrets with a third-party corporation. If they get hacked, you are the one paying the GDPR fines. Other file transfer services scan your files and retain access rights. Nothing is preventing them from selling your content to train generative AI models. aero.zip is technically incapable of doing this. All encryption happens in your browser before the data ever touches the internet. We never see the decryption key. Your files are safe from prying eyes, whether it's hackers, governments, AI companies, or even us. Don't make clients…from aero.zip

In the maker’s words, at launch

Hey HN! I'm Linas, and here's my take on XKCD 949. I've created a file sending/sharing website (think WeTransfer) which I believe is unique in several ways: * End-to-end encrypted * Recipients can start their download anytime, i.e. it's not P2P WebRTC-based thing like FilePizza * (Effectively) no limit on the…

22 GB of Hacker News in SQLite▲730

Community, All the HN belong to you. This is an archive of hacker news that fits in your browser. When I made HN Made of Primes I realized I could probably do this offline sqlite/wasm thing with the whole GBs of archive. The whole dataset. So I tried it, and this is it. Have Hacker News on your device. Go to this repo (https://github.com/DOSAYGO-STUDIO/HackerBook): you can download it. Big Query -> ETL -> npx serve docs - that's it. 20 years of HN arguments and beauty, can be yours forever. So they'll never die. Ever. It's the unkillable static archive of HN and it's…
