Products that do what aero.zip - E2EE resumable file transfer, not P2P, 100 GB, OPAQUE auth does
Hey HN! I'm Linas, and here's my take on XKCD 949. I've created a file sending/sharing website (think WeTransfer) which I believe is unique in several ways: * End-to-end encrypted * Recipients can start their download anytime, i.e. it's not P2P WebRTC-based thing like FilePizza * (Effectively) no limit on the size of the uploaded data, i.e. it will encrypt/decrypt 100 GB just fine * (Effectively) no limit the number of files that get sent * Real-time transfers, i.e. recipients can start downloading their files even before you finish uploading them * Resumable uploads/downloads…

Hi HN, I'm building ThirdCloud with the goal to replace Google Drive for everyone: more private, cheaper & maybe better UI/UX. So far, I've successfully implemented the main feature, which involves uploading and downloading files. Files are encrypted before being sent to IPFS network. Would like to hear your thoughts on this proof of concept.

I have decided to open source this project to increase trust even further. In case you have seen my previous posts, this is an update for berb.app, a WebRTC file sharing app. My goal is simple: send files between devices in real-time without installing crap or uploading to any servers.

Hey HN, I built this to scratch an itch I had around what can be done solely using the URL. It's very minimal with no storage involved, and your files can even be encrypted. The only caveat is some platforms wont allow you to post long links. I thought about using a URL shortener, but storing and mapping URLs kind of defeats the purpose. However most browsers do allow you to open them once you have them. For instance I was able to "share" a 10MB file using safari, however 350KB seems to be the max for Chrome.

I built SecureShare to solve a common problem I faced: securely sharing files between devices without size limits or intermediary servers. What it does: - Direct P2P file/text/folder sharing using WebRTC - No file size limits (only constrained by local disk space) - No registration required - All data stays on your devices (no server storage) - Supports multiple simultaneous receivers - Custom retrieval IDs and QR codes for easy sharing - Works across platforms, mobile-optimized Technical details: - Built with Next.js + Tailwind + shadcn/ui - Backend: Node.js + Redis (minimal,…
