Agora

I created Agora as a passion project to encourage myself to explore more on the web, write about what I found interesting and share them with my friends. With web development becoming more accessible, I hope that the web becomes more decentralized meaning that more people explore the web outside of the mega-platforms that exist today. Would appreciate feedback and people trying it out! There's an optional side panel Chrome extension that allows you to create and see posts people have made about the webpage you're currently on. I also just built out a feature where you are able to make…

Agora launched on November 5, 2024 with 13 votes, #1,168 of 4,990 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

Agora is a platform to navigate the web socially. Using this lightweight web application and chrome extension, you can share commentary on what you find on the web and also interact with what others find in an organized experience.

Hi HN! I'm building Agora, an AI search engine for e-commerce that returns results in under 300ms. We've indexed 30M products and made them easy to purchase. Think of a decentralized Amazon. We've been working on an API that enables developers to embed our product data, search, purchasing, and order tracking functionality into their own app. We currently have 100k stores in the index and recrawl the entire dataset once every 24 hours. I'd love your feedback.

I created this chrome extension for myself where I track my own behavior locally and recommend myself content from platforms I want content from (youtube/twitter/quora/etc) in a feed. I made it public just in case anyone else was interested. I would rather have control over my own algorithm and own the data. Also, it gives me flexibility. Turns out I do like these feeds just not when I don't own it haha. Let me know what you think of my implementation?

Hello HN, I am the founder of Agora Cosmica. This started about three years ago. On a walk I asked a chatbot to interpret the cave dream from Cormac McCarthy's book "The Road" as C.G. Jung. It gave me a perspective I had not thought of. But for my own dreams the policies of the big providers felt wrong for so personal conversations, as zero data retention is not available. So I started building. The project evolved to a German nonprofit and we published the code (AGPL-3.0) last month. The content is still copyright, but will be opened to CC-BY 4.0 in the next 6 to 12 months. Agora Cosmica is…

Hey HN! Previous CERN physicist turned hacker here. We've developed a way to make AI coding actually work by systematically identifying and fixing places where LLMs typically fail in full-stack development. Today we're launching as Lovable (previously gptengineer.app) since it's such a big change. The problem? AI writing code typically make small mistakes and then get stuck. Those who tried know the frustration. We fixed most of this by mapping out where LLMs fail in full-stack dev and engineering around those pitfalls with prompt chains. Thanks to this, in all comparisons I found with: v0,…

  • I wasn't quite sure if this qualified as "Show HN" given you can't really download it and try it out. However, dang said[0]: > If it's hardware or something that's not so easy to try out over the internet, find a different way to show how it actually works—a video, for example, or a detailed post with photos. Hopefully I did that? Additionally, I've put code and a detailed guide for the netboot computer management setup on GitHub: https://github.com/kentonv/lanparty Anyway, if this shouldn't have been Show HN, I apologize!
