AI Operator on Your Mac

Hey HN, I built an AI-powered UI for macOS that automates tasks on both macOS and in browsers. I didn’t want to pay $200 for OpenAI’s operator, so I made my own using browser-use and macOS-use. It handles simple tasks like scraping data, filling out forms, and using macOS apps. It's not great at working with files yet, but I’m planning to improve that with custom tools for the LLM. The goal is to create a desktop “pet” that takes care of boring stuff—like drafting documents and filling out forms. Check it out and let me know what you think!

What it does

This project is focused on building a macOS AI agent that leverages both local software and web capabilities. It is powered by browser-use and macOS-use . Currently, the agent supports OpenAI and GEMINI API keys, with plans to soon support local LLMs running with Ollama. The AI agent is particularly effective at performing simple tasks such as clicking buttons on the web and in applications, thanks to its strong integration with the DOM tree and OS accessibility. However, its ability to perform operations on files like Google Docs and PDFs is currently limited. Future updates will allow the AI to leverage additional tools to improve its performance in these areas. This application provides…from github.com

Hey HN, I built Friendware because I wanted autocomplete that works everywhere on my Mac, not just in code editors. In any text field it can draft replies, rewrite text, and write prompts for AI tools; it uses on-screen context to adjust based on what you’re doing. My goal was making it feel native and not require workflow changes, so it stays accessible across apps by living in the notch. Currently working on better voice learning and a memory system, would love feedback on what to prioritize!

Hey HN! I built Browser AI after getting frustrated with the official Playwright MCP server in Claude Code. If you've used it, you know the pain: - 20+ separate tools that Claude has to juggle (click, fill, navigate, wait_for_selector, etc.) - Context window explosions from verbose screenshot data and DOM snapshots - Constant tool selection errors where Claude picks the wrong tool or forgets parameters Browser AI wraps Playwright MCP with a single natural language interface. Instead of Claude managing dozens of tools, you get one: browser_ai.execute. Just tell it what you want in plain…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

  • i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
