    Answer Overflow – Indexing Discord content into the web2023 · answeroverflow.com · ▲333

Hi! I'm Rhys, I develop Answer Overflow a search engine for Discord channels. Answer Overflow indexes content from channels into Google making them discoverable on the web. I'm sharing this again after seeing a lot of discussion during the Reddit blackout about the inaccessibility of information sent in Discord servers. Answer Overflow is a verified bot in over 100 communities, fully complies with the Discord ToS, and is open source! https://github.com/AnswerOverflow/AnswerOverflow Check out some of the communities here! Open-source support bot for Discord2023 · github.com · ▲21

Many companies have a public Discord where people ask questions. Sometimes those questions are dumb and can be easily answered by reading the support documents. So we built a bot that does 3 things: 1. Uses FAISS to index public support documents provided as URLs 2. Monitors a Discord channel for questions, prefixed with !help 3. Responds to questions with its best guess of the right answer and cites its source document(s), using Data Augmented Generation from LangChain It won’t be right all of the time, but if people find it helpful we’ll make it better. Take a look at the repo and give us…

    Build a discord/Slack bot to answer questions with your docs and GPT42023 · windmill.dev · ▲144

It works on top of the open-source workflow engine windmill [1] that you can easily self-host on a tiny server or a large k8s cluster. You will also need pgvector (here hosted on supabase) and of course a GPT4 api key. It showcases an approval step so that you only provide answers you are confident giving to your users, which feels less robotic. All the building blocks are scripts that you can reuse outside of windmill and you could build this in any other workflow engines (although less conveniently). We use it for our own needs on discord [2] and thoughts this was a common need for any…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

I'm a big fan of the BBC podcast In Our Time -- and (like most people) I've been playing with the OpenAI APIs. In Our Time has almost 1,000 episodes on everything from Cleopatra to the evolution of teeth to plasma physics, all still available, so it's my starting point to learn about most topics. But it's not well organised. So here are the episodes sorted by library code. It's fun to explore. Web scraping is usually pretty tedious, but I found that I could send the minimised HTML to GPT-3 and get (almost) perfect JSON back: the prompt includes the Typescript definition. At the same time I…
